yes it does but its a different oil its a thinner oil than what is used in the engine. tranny flujid is more of a hydrolic fluid than an oil thats why I am asking I have never heard of putting 10-30 10-40 straight 30 or 40 weight oil in a tranny it is too thick to move around and lubricate as a thinner hydrolic type fluid would do (oil=thick lubricating substance, tranny FLUID is considerably thinner and flows through thinner openings that OIL will clog and not do any good )

It's about "shear strength".
In my TT machines, I ran auto tranny fluid.
For MX we ran the 80 weight fluid (real gear lube) for the shear strength.
In a stock machine 10-40 is fine.
There was wear caused by the auto tranny oil. We changed it often. The oil would get all milky and grey colored.

Lol, there are 3 bolts on the bike in front of the front sprocket. One is on top to fill, the second is a screw in the middle to check when yo take it out some oil will drip if full, and the thrid is a bolt on the bottom that drains the oil. I am with LT80 on this but have chossen to run belray gear saver 80w in mine.
