Default What is a MOORE MOTOR? lt80

Hi everybody. I at least thot I was new to this forum untill I tried to register and it said my email was already in use. I have no idea than where my username came from. Anyway, I have been on this site alit lately after buying my little girl an 03lt80. I of course stripped the thing to the frame. Got cylinder bored 1 over. Head milled .03, reeds, doin the usually clutch mods. Going with the 90 main jet as well. Not sure which gearing to go with yet. Ohh. And oil pump gone. Do u see anything wrong with this setup? So. This part is for jack basically. These guys are sending there motor to u and it comes back a lethal weapon. My question is what other candies do you add to these machines besides the ones listed above and the usualls you tell the newbies on here to try. I'm sure porting is one other main thing. Do you bore them straight to last bore? I also never ported before and thinking hard about trying this myself. I consider myself handy when it comes to things like this. Do you have any pics of ported heads that you have done. I beleive you say widen the exhaust and heighten the transfers.? While I'm at it what gearing should I go with to get low end at this point?

Welcome to the forum 8687parts!

Im sure LT80 will check in..

While Im not sure what he does to a LT80 to make it so fast.. I do know that you cant port a head on a 2 stroke..

and for some strange reason LT80 doesnt lube his chains.. maybe thats his secret?

LMAO MWQ!!!!!!!
I needed a good LOL.
And for some reason, MWQ doesn't lube pistons on assembly. Maybe this is the trick to the china quads.
Anways...LOL
8687:: Howdy back and welcome to the forums...again...
Let's start with clutch and gearing. with stock gearing and current mods, 6 rollers will do. You can gear up a tooth on gearing (front) and remove a roller or 2.
You get low end from a higher stall speed. Thus the rear clutch mod and roller weight adjustment.
Please do not highten the transfers. I raise them slightly to point them rather than raise them. I indeed raise and widen the ex port. I'll shut up there.
I welcome anyone to try porting. I started with this $175 dremel kit. I then found out I needed a $350 right angle grinder. Then there was the 100 bucks in tooling and sandpaper. You can get kits from CC Specialty for a few hundred bucks.
The wife asked "can you make money now?????!!!!
I said "I need a lathe".
You could at least get one of my cylinders and try to copy it. That's what others do.HAHAHAHAHA
The difference between my stage 2 kit and my national motor:: Certainly the cylinder porting/head modification is much more intense. I do considerable more clutch modifications and use different springs.
NO I don't bore to the max. CC's on a 80 don't mean alot. I'm not saying it don't help but it's not worth wasting bores.
I guess that's it.
Hope that helps.
Gidday,
jack

Thanks for the high motivation MWQ. Lol. Jack I'm guessing the 2nd stage motors are the ones you build for others and the national motors are your little secret for yoyrself? You said to just gear the front up a tooth? Why not the back as well? My little girl is 5 and this will be her first quad. She is wild though. She beat her powerwheel quad bad. And then I got beat up for letting her try some of the things she did with it. Lol. I bet she will be throwing this around in no time. So for now while the speed limiter is in use I want low end. Later on when the screw is out I will be regearing. So just 1 up in the front?

I consider the LT80 in stock form to have alot of grunt.
It does have the famous LT80 bog as I call it but if you cut the rear clutch shoes down to 180 grams that'd help that.
If more low is needed, go bigger on the rear sprocket.

I make my national kit for most anyone <G>.
I developed the stage 2 kit because of the economy. This way Joe Plumber that just got laid off can still get lil Joe a lil faster.

Are the springs your talking about the smaller ones that pull clutch shoes together? if so, are you able to tell me what kind and if its beneficial(with the mods i have) to do this now that i have the clutch out trimming the shoes? if not better springs should these be replaced with stock at least while im at it>?

took the brake drum out today. cleaning it all up in there. i need new dust seals. bearings are good. took axle out and its filled with grime. although one of my brake shoes have a chip in the end(not the middle)of the shoe. should i replace the shoe. also is there anything i should replace while having this apart for normal maintnence?

Your stock springs are just fine.
Brake shoe is fine.
Clean and pump some grease in the rear end once assembled.
