Default LT80 Stalls out past half throttle

Background: I rebuilt and cleaned the carb with stock jets because it would not run without the choke on, and the quad came with a rebuild kit. It fired right up after putting it all back together. I can ride it (mostly) around the yard but when I get near half throttle, it bogs down. If I hold the throttle in, it dies, if I let it go, it goes back to idle just fine.

I screwed around a bit with the needle but couldn't get it to really go.

Spark is good, compression seems great but I don't have a gauge. I pulled the air filter and the previous owner apparently didn't soak the filter but there wasn't much in the intake that would indicate it was leaking. I was going to reassemble with the air filter soaked as it should be but ran out of time tonight.

Suggestions?

You may have a bad carb.
I think you need to do a comp test to eliminate that aspect.

I think I do too but I don't have a gauge. I am combing my local area to see if anyone has one I can borrow.

If not, Sears has them. I think I paid 15-20 bucks.

Took me three weeks to get back to this, but I pulled the carb apart and soaked it in cleaner, reassembled, runs like a maniac. I can't honestly believe that a 80cc engine thats 12 years old will haul my butt down the road like it does.

Now the idle speed is too high but thats an easy fix.
