2013 Kymco 90 Speed
I just bought the kids a 2013 Kymco Mongoose 90 and noticed it only goes about 10-15 top speed. The throttle screw on the handle bar is adjusted out all the way. I saw and old posting on an older model that had a spacer in the clutch. Does anyone know if that's the issue with the 2013? If so, do I need any special tools to remove it? Any help would be appreciated.

The old LT80s also came with a ring in the carb to keep the slide from going all the way up, and a washer restrictor in the exhaust, check to see if yours has that. Some models also had a jumper on the cdi wiring that would limit rpms, does yours sound like its winding out good? if so, its more than likely the clutch spacer keeping speeds down.

Performance up grades
Yes there is a shim in clutch. Remove left footboard, kick starter, housing. Then with impact wrench remove primary, front bolt, take bolt off and carefully remove front assembly. Do not allow rulers to fall out of the assembly. Remove space rand the put back together.other mods you can do remove restrict or from tail pipe, 16 or 17 tooth front sprocket. If you go wit 17t you will need a longer chain 76 links vs 74 stock, k&n filter and drill out top of box for more air flow. Unrestricted cdi will allow the engine to rev to 10,000 rims vs 5500 rpm stock. I have several of the cdi mods if interested. Any questions feel free to ask.
