Piston and boring question?

Default Piston and boring question?

Well here the thing I have an lt80 and need new piston I don't want to get stock 50mm I want 52mm or 51.50mm will I have to bore it?

1) you only want to go as big as you need to ie: if your at stock bore (50mm), you'll go to 50.5mm
2) yes, the cylinder will need bored and honed to the correct size piston.
If you don't have a local shop that does this work, I can do it for you.

Why only .5 bigger I seen guys going up to 4mm bigger and how much do you price

Hey lt80 do I need a sleeve to oh and if say I just get a stock bore which is 50.00 is it still better than the suzuki lt80 stock piston or what please answer and thx.

Because there is a very minimal increase in hp in boring 80cc motors.
Porting is where you increase rpm's/hp.

No, you don't need a sleeve. The LT80 cylinder can be bored out to 52mm.

You're talking about the big bore cylinders (+4). Not the best choice for durability and also, LA Sleve isn't going to make any more and they only have 54.25mm and 54.5mm pistons available.

Why don't I go higher then like 51.50mm instead of the .5mm increase thx again.

To go more than needed is a waste of a bore. The sooner you bore them to the max (52mm) the sooner you buy another cylinder.

Same thing I tried to tell people for years! Some kept thinking they would tell a great difference in power if you bored a cylinder all the way out. All you're doing is just wasting a good cylinder. OPT
