2003 Suzuki LT80 Replacement Stator Wiring
Hi all. First post but fear not as I know 2 cycle engines very well.
My son's LT80's stator is bad. I have the old one off of the machine and I have received a new one. To my surprise, the new one has three wires coming off of it whereas the old one only had two. I am assuming it's because the replacement stator is made to go into multiple different engines that have different wiring configurations. Aside from this extra wire the new stator is identical to the old one.
The new stator has a black / red wire that goes to one of the "windings" (not sure what they are called) and two yellow wires that go to each end of the the other "winding". The old one only had one wire coming from each "winding".
Anyone have any idea how this should be wired? I am guessing that the yellow wires need to be joined when going to the quad's harness OR that one of the yellow wires should just be ignored. I am hoping someone can let me know for sure before I "trial and error."

Oh I understand completely.
Radiator for my 250R- new american aluminum= $400+
My china special= $85 bucks and that is with the cheapest of cheap radiator hoses that didn't fit. I had to bend the in and out a lil....But it's running fine.
I went racing and broke my foot. Radiator 1...Jack 0.. HAHAHAHA
