Default need help wit h 06 ltz50 quadsport

so my kids bike has been a real PIA this past year. we upgraded the cdi exhaust intake and jets bike ran fine. parked it battery died. replaced battery no spark, replaced cdi we are good. 2 weeks later no spark. put the oem one in and its starts then the cdi smokes bike dies. got the aftermarket cdi replaced under warranty bike ran fine. take it out for a ride again no spark. tired getting another one under warranty but company said no since the last one i sent it tested good(i call bull on that). we have a trip coming up next week and he really wants to ride. i dont want to keep spending $150 each time he wants to ride. ive been thinking about just running a chinese cdi box just havent looked into it or if its even possible we run one on his crf50 no problem, since its plug and play. has any converted to a chinese cdi on a ltz50? or any idea what else could be wrong tested all the components all are within spec. any help is appreciated

You were extremely lucky they replaced the first one. Classic error is thinking the CDI is the fault. You will blow CDIs if the wiring to CDI is faulty. It could be the CDI earth lead, it could also be the regulator overcharging. Get a workshop manual, and do the ignition circuit tests before fitting another new CDI. Then test voltage across battery after you get it running again, if over 15v, stop the bike right away and buy a new regulator.
