Hello guys/gals

i have a Tao Tao 125 that starter won’t crank. Was working fine when I son turned it off. Then got back on it a few minutes later and starter wouldn’t crank at all. Turn switch on and neutral light on and break depressed but press starter button and the neutral light goes off. Solenoid doesn’t even click. I tried to bypass brake switches and still know crank or click. I measured voltage from starter button and was only about 3 volts. I tried to bypass solenoid and they didn’t even work. There was no spark or click when I did that either. Any ideas. Your help is greatly appreciated!!

 

Probably flat battery or bad battery connection, can be either side, or earth to frame etc. Please don't use "won't crank" it means different things to different people.

 

Figured out the issue. One of the copper wires in winding in starter had came out and was caught in starter and and had it grounded out. Was able to clean the brushes and and tucked the back in winding so wouldn’t come back out. Put it back together and starter is working. Seems a little week but is working fine for now.

 

Change out the starter if it did it once it will do it again. Thats causing a dead short and a good way for a fire to start and the little one to get hurt

 

I have one on order now to replace old one!! I thought the same thing!!

 

Thats good... I love seeing kits out riding... i hate it when i see them out riding but not safely.. My little one just started riding with me again this year.. She has been riding since around 2-3 and is now 9. She now wants to get good enough that she can come riding on the trails with the big boys...
