Default LT80 Needle Jet

Hi. I'm trying to sort out 2x LT80's which are having several problems.

While cleaning out the OEM Mikuni carb I have managed to air blast out the needle jet, the brass tube that the needle slides into. I cannot find out which way it goes back in, both the manual I have & looking at a parts fiche gives me no clue. It seems to be an interferance fit & I have tried to refit it from both the top & bottom in what I assume is the right way around.

Has anyone tackled this before???

Just taken a look at the parts book, and it doesn't show anything except the "jet, needle" which is shown with a bigger diameter at the bottom and another ridge near, but not at, the top, may even be smaller dia at the top. Goes in from underneath. Can't remember having any problems with it, and have blown out a dozen LT80 carbs, so either it stayed in, or I took it out with the main jet and put it back the same way as it came out.

Not one to be beaten easily I thought "bugger it" & tackled the job in the knowledge that I'm probably going to end up buying a replacement carb anyway.

It goes in from the bottom, through the main jet hole. There is a definate difference in the top & bottom diameter & you'll need calipers to define which is which. It's held in place by friction so you'll need something suitable to drift it into place.

Good job it came out of its own free will, I sort of understand how these emulsion tubes work & if the carb needs cleaning then it really should come out to be cleaned properly.

Why is this not in any of the manuals???
