For those of you fortunate to own new Speed's, which silencer did they come with? I thought it was a new one from FMF, is this correct? Also, how loud is it, any DB measurements out there? If it is FMF, I'm wondering why Cannondale choose them instead of HMF. There seems to be alot of advertising for HMF on the Cannondales and I know the HMF is cheaper than the FMF. Rocky Mountain ATV shows the new silencer for the Cannondale along with a header pipe and it's considerably more money than the HMF.

 

Well, I don't know about the speed but if it's anything like the Cannibal than the FMF pipe on it isn't very good. It's just a cheap silencer like on most stock quads that FMF happend to put together. It's louder than most other stock quads but not at all overly loud.

 

I thought the Speed had a better quality silencer on it than my Cannibal and my FX400 did, I believe I read that in DirtWheels one time but I may be mistaken. That's why I thought I'd ask one of the Speed owners to chime in.

The Speed silencer is made by FMF (it is stamped right on the canister). It is not the titanium or aluminum-looking silencer found on the Blaze and Moto nor is it the aftermarket one available from FMF. YoDaddy is correct - it's louder than most stock, but not too loud, at least not as loud as most aftermarket exhausts. I think manufacturers have to meet a required maximum dB level for their ATV, so it can't be too loud.
