CBU660R I get ya on why there is a market for Cannondales...
But I don't agree with you on the $18,000 250r's. Now I might not know much about other racing leagues. But I know you can step into a national 250r complete roll design for around $12,000. Many of the ones I have seen for sale at the national events, completely hopped up with everything new roll design, axis, national ported engines have gone from anywhere from 8,000 - 12,000. Keep in mind, most of these only were only a year or two old from ground up. And they looked immaculate. Not to mention roll design chassis and a duncan national motor would outperform a standard Cannondale any day. I have never seen a 18,000 250r. Not that I knew of at least. That to me seems a little too expensive. I'm more of a what can I get for my dollar man. 8,000.00 can get you one heck of a nice 250r, and I would expect it to be completely gone through from the bottom up. That includes every seal. So 13 year old parts would not exist.

I hear you now. I was thinking more along the lines of what it would cost if you were to but a used 250R, pull out a Dirtwheels to order all of your parts and build one up yourself and factor in labor dollars on top of that. I didn't consider buying a used race quad like you mention. And yes, I would not have a problem whatsoever buying a used race quad from a pro team, you are right in that it is going to be top of the line and well maintained.

well i see your point CBU, but you cant really put the 13 year old unknown factor in on something like this. the R has been to hell and back and the c-dale has only been out for a couple years now. see my point? dont get me wrong, i'd love to have one of these new c-dales, but im also a hands on person, i like to know whats going in and how its put together on my quads. Nothing against you R riders but a LOT of the pros are riding R FRAMED quads. More and more 4-stroke motors though. I really like the R's though, man oh man do they handle good, but the Dales are pretty dang good stock. I was suprised at how many quads I was able to beat off the line at the last race. As for the $18000 R's... go to K&K atv. I believe I've seen one for sale for $21,000!!! I know for a fact that I've seen one that was atleast $18,000. Most of the pro quad riders in GNC's are riding the quads w/ those price tags but Kory's Cannibal cost him somewhere along the lines of $13 or $14,000 and it has been doing pretty dang good for him. Especially since it has a STOCK engine. But like I said, I would love to have a R, hell I would LOVE to have ANY of the pro riders quads.

Let me chime in on this discussion. I happen to own both a C'dale and a hopped up old 1986 250R. What no one has failed to mention is yea your going to spend some money and time fixing up your old 16 year old R but it's the only quad out there that holds it's value. Heck, you will even pay more for that 16 year old quad now than what it cost new. I'm on my second cannondale quad and I love this second one but when it's all said and done, give me an old 16 year old R any day of the week. You have an endless supply of aftermarket parts for it, can't say that about the C'dales. They are easy to work on, can't say that about the C'dales. They handle better, jump better, and weigh 50 pounds less that the C'dales. I'm not bashing the C'dales because I love my Cannibal but some people enjoy wrenching and knowing how things are put together and take alot of satisfaction in doing things themselves. If you own an R, you will know and understand these things.

I'm not realy going to get into the 250R vs. C-Dale thing but, everyone has their likes and dislikes and so on and so on. Anyway here is something I've been thinking about since I got a REM-N-S Productions video of the Loretta Lynn's National. I wouldn't touch a PRO quad, for what they ask for them. Let me explain.. Have you ever watched parts of a PRO National race in SLOW-MOTION! Some one said a 13 yr. old R has been to hell and back, well those NEW one or two yr.old pro quads (wether its an R,YZF or??..) have been through hell. Sure they get gone through after every race but for the $$$$$ they want for them If I wanted a quad like thiers I'd build it my self. Watching Gust triple out of the ten commandments you dont see what realy goes on watching it in real time. Put the video in slow mo and you can see that he cases the last jump every time! I figure this happens somewhere in a few different places at every track and practice. How good could this be on the New frame. Prety cool to re watch this stuff in regular speed, it doesnt even seem to bother those guys. Watching Spader go around the big sweeper his inside tires only touch the ground for a split second, the rest of the time they are off the ground, isnt his quad at max width? hee! hee! You dont see this happen without watching it in slow though. That didnt have anything to do with what I was saying earlier but any way thought I'd share how hard these guys ride those NEW quads.
