whats up fellow can riders . im the kid that bombthreat187 is in here talking about .i have one of the first fx400,s that where out . i love the thing but have had nothing but problems .plus i have recived no dealer support . if your from ny DO NOT BUY FROM EXTREAM MOTOR SPORTS. i didn,t even get an owners manual with my bike .they never told me about the recalls that cannondale put out .if it was,nt for bombthreat and these forums i would of never know , but i needed the updates bad .my stearing was wasted after the first month and half of having the thing .i ride it hard but thats what its mad for some how the ball joints or stearing got bent not sure i how that happen.you can move the bars back and forth about and inch and the wheels don,t move .. thats bad news . then i called my dealer to see about the up dates he said there where none .so when i ask for the cannondales phone number he said he was unable to give it to me that was only for dealers . i didn,t belive that .so after showing proof that i needed the updates on the ball joints an ect .he had my bike for a month .and told me three diffrent dates it would be done but when i showed up there which is an hour drive for me my bike was not done (3 diffrent times this happen ).then they said they would bring it out to me .so i was like ok cool .but when they got to my house the guydriving handed me a bill for 75 $ for delivery.so i was like im not paying .he called his boss and the boss said bring the bike back . so the guy left with MY BIKE in his truck .so long story i got the bike back .but after two rides i was out riding and the bike just died .got it home check a few things it was the fuese .so i fix that but every time i get out of 2 gear it would go again .dam i was very pissed of at this time so once again i had to bring my bike back to this dealer that has no idear about what there doing .. 3 weeks later i get my bike back again .had a few weeks of fun riding now the thing is spitting antyfreeze all over the place .i don,t want to go back to that dealer but there is no other ones around here. i deffinatly don,t want to sell it i love the power the speed and the looks you get when u rool up on it .so what the hell should i do . any info would be a big help ..

p.s. sorry about the long post i was just venting ...

For customer service and/or product information or general inquiries please contact us at the following locations.

Cannondale Corp
16 Trowbridge Drive
Bethel, CT 06801
PH# 1-800-BIKEUSA
(245-3872)
custserv@cannondale.com

Call them, I have spoken with the techs several time on general information and they have been very helpful. They also mentioned that if I had a serious problem than send the motor to them and they would look at it.

Tell them about the dealership and have the factory bring presure on them. As a start-up company they can't afford to have bad dealers.

Good luck and keep us posted.

The recalls on the FX400 are a serious matter. In fact I ran into this situation when I had my FX400. I still have a fax directly from Cannondale stating for all dealers to not sell any quads until these recalls and updates are performed. Here is why: if you break a break a ball joint that cannondale knows there is a problem with, you could sue them and the dealer you bought the 'dale from if you were to flip your quad if one breaks. I can't believe your dealer has been so unwilling to straighten this mess out. So now your warranty I'm sure is over for your FX400. I would contact Cannondale and list all the problems you have had with the quad and with your dealership. Also document all the time you have been without the quad because of these problems, whether it's been due to the quad or the dealership. I would then ask about the possibility of your dealer and Cannondale swap out your quad for at least a new Cannibal, if not a Speed. I had similiar issues but my quad was under warranty and Cannondale did the right thing with me. Good luck and keep us updated how this plays out!

I don't know if this will help, but I own FX400 #8. I had a bearing problem that sent my engine to CDale and back. When it was all back together, I had a coolant leak. It turned out it was coming from the coolant reservoir and it seemed pretty obvious that it was. No problem though RSPerformance hooked me up with a new one. Turns out that the original ones had a problems with their coolant reservoirs. My friend(FX400 #6) did a ECU upgrade. It was the first time his was down that far and guess what? When it was back together he had a coolant leak. His wasn't so obvious. His was pouring it's way down to the bottom radiator mount making it look like it was coming from no where near the reservoir. If you can without a doubt rule out the reservoir, then I wish you luck. No matter what man find another dealer. We bought ours from Lewis Suzuki, about two hours away. They didn't care much about service. We now go to RSPerformce(Thank God)which is four hours away and Lewis Suzuki has lost their CDale dealership(Thank God). It may not be convenient, but it's much much better.

I know you said that the antifreeze is coming from the radiator, are you sure it is not coming from the coolant bottle? On the right side of the machine under the right headlight cover is the coolant bottle. If the machine gets too hot (if the cooling system was not bled properly this happens pretty quickly) there is a pressurized cap on the coolant bottle and antifreeze will leak out. I have also seen some of the early coolant bottles develop a leak under the forward mounting bolt. I have never seen/heard of a radiator leak (unless it was punctured by something).

When you call Cdale ask for Mark Schlossnagle. He has taken care of my problems and answered every e-mail I have sent. Explain in detail and DO NOT leave anything out.
