Now I'm confused...
#1
I am new to ATVing (rode a dirt bike as a kid), 33 years old, 6'-3" 200 lbs, and have been looking at buying an ATV (Raptor, Z400, or Cannibal). I just spoke with the only two Cannondale dealers in lower Michigan, and here is what they told me:
Dealer 1: new 2002 Cannibal $6500 OTD. Is checking on the refurbs.
Dealer 2: new 2002 Cannibal $6995 + 6% tax. Refurbs going for $6500 OTD.
From what I've seen on this forum, the refurbs should be $5000 + 6% tax, right? Also, is dealer 1 blowing smoke with $6500 OTD as dealer 2 says? Dealer 2 stated that Dealer 1 must be talking about a refurb. Is there something to look at to make sure the Cannibal from dealer 1 is truly a new 2002 model Cannibal? He is quite a drive from me and I don't want to waste a trip.
Thanks for your input.

Tony, I got my cannibal for $6,500 OTD In Jan. from Extreme Cycles in Chattanooga, TN. I t was brand new with Ohlins and ecu 1000. I don't think the new cannibals are being shipped with Ohlins but they do have a magura hydrolic clutch. Not sure on the refurbs. Hope this helps.

Dealer 2, $6500 OTD for a refurbished unit!!
Obviously he's not interested in selling any refurbished units is he?!
Just mention to him that you know he's getting them for $5000 and most dealers are selling them for a few hundred dollars above that, not $1500!! Why in the world would anyone buy any of the refurbished units when you could drive down the highway to dealer #1 and get a brand new unit for the same price, inform him of that!
Get the vin number from one of the new units from dealer #1. Also, ask what type stop switch it has, is it a 2 button (start and stop) or is the stop switch a slide style. The slide style indicates it has the new ECM1000 computer.
