Like I said you must have bad luck. Seems like when anyone else has contacted Cannondale with a problem, they are more than happy to take care of everything.

It does seem funny that everyone else has always gotten extremely good treatment from Cdale except him. This is also the same kid that says his lawyer father is writing some letter to Cannondale demanding a 1000 ECU for his Cannibal. Apparently, someone's upset because they bought the wrong used quad and is trying to nail Cdale for it.

Dude, you don't think I'm pissed that I bought a '01 Raptor only to later find out about weak tranny's, carb boot problems, starter clutch problems, tranny clutch problems, weak axles, etc. about 2 months before the 02's were released with fixes?? Thanks goodness my Raptor was always good to me and I never experienced a single problem with it but I sold it before it got the chance to. The difference in your ECU problem is that your Cannibal runs fine the way it is now. The 1000 ECU is simply an upgrade therefore not a safety issue causing Cdale to recall all 500 computers. You need to grow and realize that sometimes life isn't fair. You had every opportunity to purchase a new Cannibal with the 1000 but chose to buy an older one out of state. You made your bed, now lie in it.

Guyraptor,
Why'd you sell the raptor? How did it compare to your cousin's 400ex? I'm asking cuz I still can't decide what to get but I am leaning towards putting some money down on the new suzuki z400. I thought of getting a raptor or 400ex also, especially since I am sure I can get a good deal on the honda. Just not sure if it is too underpowered for me.

Corndog - usually I wouldn't reply to your post, but MAN... YOU'RE TEARING THAT THING UP!!! Obviously, you have some problems... so why in the hell do you keep riding it like that????? You think the Dale is just gonna fix itself? Take it to a dealer and tell them what your problems are and more than likely, they'll be able to fix it. And about the silencer splitting... you won't really be able to see it because it will split at the seam. I didn't notice it until water got in my silencer (It got rained on for a whole night ... stupid me) and when I started it, water was running out of the seam. I would start it up, and get a spray bottle and spray some water on that seam while you rev it up a little (kind of like checking for a hole in a tire). And if the water starts "splashing" off, you got a split silencer. Do this before the silencer gets hot or the water will obviously evaporate before you can even see anything.

Hope that helps.

corndog, you are exactly like my friends little brother. He has a DS80(kind of like an overpowered PeeWee) and he says that it's "perfectly fine". In reallity, there is no kickstarter, the clutch cable is broke, It's jetted wrong, the seal next to the kickstarter is melted because he tried welding his kickstarter on, the piston/rings are wore out, he has no cap on the oil container, there is no silencer(thats annoying!), and my friend and I had to clean the damn thing for him because he is too lazy to do it. He had moths and flies in his gas tank but he refused to wash it out himself. He was trying to sell it awhile back, and was asking $900 for it, when you can buy a 1999 for that price from a local dealer that hasn't been trashed on. Now he says that everything on it thats broke is either my fault, his brtohers fault, or our Neighors(who welded the kickstartter for him) fault. I bet you have Cannondales phone # on speed dial, don't ya, ready to blame them for everything, right?

jmoney, I sold it for 2 reasons really. The first reason (and biggest) was I was tired of worrying whether my tranny was going to blow up. I found myself babying the bike and not riding as hard as I wanted to because of this. Riding it just wasn't fun when you had those headaches. The second reason was the weight. The bike weighs around 445lbs. with gas and oil. That weight becomes noticeable trying to move the bike around. I'd really wait to see what the word on the Z400 is before buying anything. The 400EX is a nice quad and it handles great but after getting off a Raptor and jumping on it I was just missing the power. His is piped and jetted but it still wasn't enough for me. The Honda did handle better than the stock Raptor but I bought a Lonestar axle and the handling woes disappeared.
