has any one raced a Moto on a MX track? We just raced stock Cannibal last Sunday on a MX track in the 250/440 class where there were several costom YZ 426/Lager framed machines and the usual tricked out 250r's and several highly modified Honda 440's.
The Cannibal did well in the beginning ( 2nd and 3rd respectivly) but could not keep up with the modified machines around the rutted corners and the whoops. Finished 9th and 10th out of 19 in two races. Was wondering if anyone had raced Moto on the MX track against the 'big boy's'?

Crashed,
I doubt it was lack of power that did the Cannondale in, suspension might be a more realistic cause. I ran my FIRST Motocross race ever on Sunday and finished 3rd out of 11 quads. Some of these quads were a 265cc R with powervalve, carb, etc; modded Banshees, Raptors, and a couple 440EX's. The only reason I didn't place higher was because of lack of experience and maybe my shocks not being valved and sprung to suit me bodyweight/riding style wise. A wider stance would have helped too...that turns full of ruts were causing me some problems being so narrow.......JIM

That's my main problem too... corners. I just suck at them. Another thing I need to work on is setting my own pace. I noticed in the first moto in the TLSS at Swan MX, when I got a good start and I was up there w/ the top 5 (out of 24) I was just riding right along w/ them until I got hit in a corner and my tire came off the bead, but when I'm by myself, I ride to slow. But a lower, wider stance w/ smaller tires would help A LOT. I haven't personally seen any other C-dales at the track besides mine but I hope to see some more some time soon. Yes we were at Kellog- what a rough track it was on Sunday. I was really impressed with all the ATV's that was there. There were some great riders there. Also Alaska 400ex- there is no doubt that Cannibal is competative in power, but it sorely lacks in suspension for MX track!! We are seriously thinking about getting a Moto but don't know any one who has one thus the question.

A friend of mine has a Moto440. He has raced it about 3 or 4 times. So far he has had a few problems but nothing major. He sent the shocks off to PEP and really liked them alot better when he got them back. Right now his computer is at R & S because everytime he lands from a jump it goes dead, so they are trying to figure out what is wrong with it. I rode it before he sent the shocks to PEP and it was really fast and pulled strong but the handling compared to my quad didnt compare (it two wheeled in every corner). As soon as he gets his computer back I am going to ride it and see if the shocks are any better. I will let you know then.

YoDaddy- The guy I am talking about was the one on the Roll Design yz426 at the first Swan race. He raced his Moto440 at Village Creek and got 4th or 5th. He will most likely be at the next Swan race. He would have been at the last one but his computer is at R & S.

Has his moto had the stalling updates performed?

There is new operating code for the ECM and fuel line routing updates.

Mine hasn't had a single unexplained stall yet.

Im not sure if his has the updates or not. His is the 8th Moto440 built and he got it from R & S Performance.

YoDaddy- He races the amateur class. I wish I was going to be there next weekend but I will be at Red Bud. Unless he goes to Red Bud he will be there with it.
