I know I have seen someone else on here that said they have some play in their front wheels and I do too. I was checking it out at the track and looks to me like the inside tie rod ends must be shot, because that is where the play is coming from. Anyone else have this problem? I am going to call the dealer today and see if it is covered under warranty; it sure should be. Also, I tried to grease them up good, but each time I grease them the grease seems to gush out of them after what seems like a very little grease at all. Any ideas, comments, etc are appreciated.........JIM

Check to see if the play is coming from the tie rods end and not from the lower steering shaft. I recent had some play in the steering following the last GNCC. I found out that the 2 bolts that tighten the steering stem had loosed up. I think the use a 10mm wrench. The way to check is to slowly move the handle bars back and forth while watching the shaft and tie rods. Pending on the location of the play is what needs tighten or replaced. Good luck and let us all know.

Lt,
Would that steering stem loose bolt situation cause side to side play in your front wheels? I can take the front wheel with a hand on the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions and get some pull/push movement that shouldn't be there. Thanks for your help, JIM

Yes,It would act the same as if a tie rod was loose or worn out. I would double check to see where the play is before buying anything. You could also push and pull on the tire like you said, just look and see what is moving and what isn't.

I just bought my Speed about a month ago and got 3 races on it. But I have a 91 Suzuki Quadracer that I have spend a good bit of time fix, replacing, and adjusting tie rods (cause I break or bend them all the time).

For a picture of the bolts I'm talking about go to: http://www.cannondale.com/motorsport...df/6001131.pdf
and click on steering column. The parts are Items 10 thru 12 (12 being the bolts I'm talking about).

Gotten love cannondale who else would have pics of ever little piece of there quad on their website? Hope this helps. Let me what the problem and solution was. Good luck.
