Ok I will ask my questions first then explain what happened. With the GP Control system when should you check idle? When it has been running for a while or can you do it right away? Next question does adjusting the idle mess with the throttle cable at all (I wouldn't think it would but I will explain)? Ok here is the story. I got the GP Control software about 2 weeks ago I took it out of the box everythiong was set up perfectly so I decided to check settings. I got averything up and noticed my RPM's were low 1,700 so I turned the idle up till I hit 2,300. I left it run for a while (10-15 mins) then I shut it off. This Saturday I go to start it and the battery seems drained and it cranks, but doesn't seem like it wants to fire. After switching batteries (Suzuki Z400 battery is the same) it cranks better but no fire. I turn down the idle and vroom instant fire up. As I am riding I notice the idle going up and down all over the place and then it happens as I am climbing a hill the throttle pins out and stay there. I fly to the top of the hill almost fly off the quad. At the top I quickly shut it off. Ride some more and it happens again I turn the idle down and voila no more throttle problem. I also played with the cable itself so that may have been the problem. Any help with my dilema would be great. I also beliave my quad is running to rich in the low speed area, because I am getting a fuel smell and fire bursts out of the exhaust. Some of that is a byproduct of cranking it with a finger on the throttle, but this is the only way it will start sometimes. HELP...

As you said, It may be your throttle cable.

We saw this a while back where the cable was messed with and changed the idle speed at the slight touch of turning the handlebars. The customer said he didn't remove the cable, change it's routing, or anything else.

We put a bit more freeplay in the cable and it stopped.

You can change the pulse width of the injector to take care of your "fire". You will notice a power increase when you do this as well.

We check the idle speed at normal engine operating tempratures.

Our Cannondale guru at the shop created his own mapping this past fall along with a couple of other tricks that he has found, we do the same thing to every cannondale racer around here, including the one that I run and there is one thing that I have noticed...they end up starting the same.....a SLIGHT ammount of throttle while pushing the start button. No fouled plugs and not the first engine failure or tuning problem from any of them.....so far anyway.

Most modded Cannondale owners that had mods done elsewhere say the same, however I have also talked to a few who said their's wouldn't start at all if they were giving any ammount of throttle.

I have never seen the software you have but in the dealer cal software there is a throttle settings option you have to completely back off idle screw make sure there is freeplay in cable.set min throttle setting and then hold throttle wide open set max throttle setting.
these settings cure alot of the starting problems I have seen and you may have inadvertantly messed them up.Everytime I have a dale on thedealercal this is one setting that I do.It basically syncs the computer with your throttle with wear the computer and throttle will be out of sync.

Knowsalot I have not seen the pulse width anywhere in the settings I can change. I have the basic Diag and Maintanance set-up. I will try the throttle reposition too. I will also have to call Kyle from R&S and explain my rich running theory because that is where I got the map from. See if he has any other ideas. I think something is not right in the cable though. Is this just me or what.

I had a throttle cable problem after a rollover. It would rev up high and stay there when turning the bars.
Replaced cable, no more problem. Funny though, I couldn't find anything wrong with the cable!
Check the cable routing>?

Just for haha's how should the cable be routed. I did have a turn over and had to replace the steering stem. The only problem I have with this I have been riding this now for 10 hours since replacing it and this problem just popped up.
