Default K&N Air Filter for the C-dale....

Is anyone runnin one on theirs? Does it help any? Would you recommend remapping or would stock Cannibal mapping work good w/ the K&N?

My plan is to get the K&N filter w/ outerwears cover and to increase the air flow to the filter by cutting a couple of holes in the plastic somewhere.

What do you think?

I've brought up the "cutting holes in the front plastic" idea before and someone else has mentioned it too, but neither one of us seemed to get any clear answers, I thought I'd give it another try since I'm about to order a K&N filter for my Dale.

nacs new carbon fiber headlight deletes has a screen where the headlights were. i would not cut any holes without putting in some kind of screen. we were going to cut out the 2 lines that are in the moto hood and add screen ,still may do it. the ones i am talking about are in the center of the hood, about 1 inch wide by about 6 or 8 inches long.

From what I have read. You can't get much better than the stock filter.I was always told K&N is not a good off road filter it lets more dirt in.The outer wears might help though.

Sorry I didn't anser your question but didn't want to leave you totally hanging.Hopefully someone will reply with the anser you are looking for.

O yea if I had them two lines in the front plastic cut out with a screan behind it this weekend it would have gotten cloged by mud.It sucks coming from the back of the pack.

Markvette, I cut the slots out that you are talking aboutand put in screen. I know you race a lot and that should be fine, but if you do any trail riding on the moto at all I would not do it unless you have extra plastic. It doesn't take much water to drown these things out. If you do make sure it can be covered for trail riding. I have extra plastic ordered and I am going to cut the fenders on the ones with the cutouts and just use it at the local drag strip. I did feel it helped a little on top end, but it was minimal. Not worth cutting in my opinion.

Aight, thanks, I prolly won't cut out any holes in my plastics if it won't help any. I only race MX though, so usually water isn't a problem, but unfortunately mud roost is... damn, I need to get faster .

Sorry about the earlier post, I was in a sarcastic mood earlier.

Mxdale71,

I am currently running a K & N on one of our two Dales. Didn't notice alot of difference on the filter change, But I still like the K & N with the outerwear. I wouldn't cut the plastic. If you want to go faster (push harder with your thumb). southbaymoto.com is soing some interesting things to the Dales.
