Default Clutch cable swapout

I broke my stock clutch cable on my Cannibal the other week, finally got the replacement cable in, some 5 inches shorter!! I downloaded the parts bulletin regarding the new cable routing. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why they shortened the cable that much, makes for a bad stress area coming right out of the clutch lever, even with the new routing in the parts bulletin! I got a feeling this cable may not last too long. BTW, this is on a non-hydraulic clutch C'dale.

I'd have to suggest you check your routing.

Mine is a cable clutch, also, and I replaced the cable last weekend. I'd call it a perfect fit with no extra cable hanging anywhere and fairly gentle bends all the way to the actuator arm, even at the lever as you mentioned. Coincedentally, I bought the cable you sent back to LS Rentals! It was a good price they had on it!

Did yours break at the ball that fits in the lever? Mine and another both break there.

Yea mine broke at the clutch handle end. I routed my cable as the instructions said on C'dale's web site and it's tight!! I was able to get mine within 2 weeks, cost was $19.00 + tax.

I too wonder why they went with a shorter cable. With some aftermarket bars its really a tight fit.Has anyone tried matching the cable with a different make?Or maybe Motion Pro would make one those terminator cables are really nice.

Yeah, mine broke too. I went with the new one and compared it with the old one and it looked the same to me. Oh well. I ended up going with Pro Taper bars to lower the bar height, which helped but it is still tight.

I noticed that with my replacement also. I have some McGrath bend Renthals and the bend is a lot lower on them then on the stock handlebars and the fit was still somewhat tight, but not really a problem. I just don't understand what the point is in having a shorter cable.

My son & I are both tall. We have +1 stem plus high bars. We where lucky to find a old style cable when ours broke at Buds Creek last fall. The new cable wont work with our bars. I hope someone will make a cable that works.
