i have an '02 cannibal and i believe i am having problems with the starter. i was riding and i stalled the motor ........went to restart it but the motor would fire and then quit then it would fire and then quit then all i could get was a clank when i pushed the start button. it seemed like the starter was not disengaging from the flywheel. then i put it in gear and rock it back and forth and that seemed to break it loose again only to crank and fire then get stuck again. when it fires and stalls it has a metalic clank when it quits. any ideas? if it is the starter are there any out there to buy?

DONT START IT AGAIN UNTILL YOU CHECK THIS. pull the clutch and make sure you crankcase bolts have not backed out. i would bet the farm this is your problem.

 

thanks i will do that. maybe i got lucky and it quit before it trashed the whole engine
