I'm of the opinion that Rook WV is one of the more courageous crusaders that our sport has. I like most of his posts and he takes more time out of his day to talk about thengs THAT MATTER than 98% of the posters who use these forums for nothing BUT their own amusement. The guy does his homework and happens to live in probably THE MOST DIFFICULT region in this country for speaking your mind around A LOT of riders who feel some pretty bad behavior related to safety is somehow their 'birthright" (and who also look at a fellow statesman saying 'different' as akin to being 'stabbed in the back').
From what I've read........if we had about a thousand Rook W's (for starters)?.......I think we'd probably start seeing some positive changes that would shake this sport up a little (as it desperately needs to be).
Saying that, he can't always be right..........because "I" don't always agree with him!
Take "parental responsibility" or "responsibility" in general........one of the few things that make the "uninformed" of our society take responsibility for their actions or those of their kids; is the knowledge that the penalty for ignorance is more than the3y want to take the risk of paying.
Enforcement and fines/impoundments are what gets folks attention in 2003 after so many years of "if it feels good or helps in getting the kids 'out of your hair'......do it!"
The one thing a man will always "respect"........ is his pocketbook (the one exception being 'divorce'....as some guys believe these things are expensive; because they're worth it!).

The rookie is right.
just because you arn't an English major...or even great at composition doesn't mean you should just sit quietly
89trx has a point...but only a point...Rookie has an EFFORT, which is way more than a point
, you guys don't dislike each other and essentially want the same thing for our industry...hey 89trx, maybe you could offer to help him edit any other letters he might send in...and Rookie maybe you could work a little harder on the next letter, making yourself a stronger advocate

Article
That's one newspaper in the capital city.....my local paper should be next....and my representatives have received similar letters.
Thanks for the encouragement BB, and you're right about the pocketbook----hopefully people won't let it go that far.

Any national atv club ever formed who believes they shouldn't be "beholden" to groups like the AMA; will have to spend part of that due money on a legislative position within the organization.......and that position should be given top priority.
I have no problem spending my dues money on a guy like RookWV if he is out there getting articles like that published and occasionally knocking the riding public upside the head a little.

Rook, you are right, I am going to do something similar here in Utah.
I know you guys covered this but that 89 guy is a joker. Thats what sucks about this forum, somebody tries to do something good and all some people can do is criticize.
My glass is half full!
