As I was reading the paper today I came across this editorial. It's not ATV related but it signifies how dense the enviromentalists are. By the way, editorial came from The Augusta Chronicle.
"The National Center for Public Policy Research does yeoman work in exposing the cruel excesses of government regulation. Here's the latest nightmare story:
For seven years, Viola Allen, an ailing 72-year-old widow, desperately tried to sell her 8-acre property in Lynwood, Wash., to raise enough money to move out of her dilapidated house.
Viola suffers from emphysema and must stay on oxygen all day. Her house is in such poor condition that every time it rains, which is often in the Pacific Northwest, her basement floods.
The resulting mildew worsens her medical condition. But local environmentalists blocked Viola from selling the land by claiming Tunnel Creek, that runs through her property, is vital salmon habitat. This is hard to believe, however, as Tunnel Creek is completely dry in the summer and has only a tiny trickle of water in the winter. Notes Viola, ``If salmon are going to get to Tunnel Creek, they would have to sprout legs and walk up here.''
Nevertheless, for now at least, Viola can't sell the land. Concern for the elderly? It seems that some in government have greater concern for fish!"
What are your opinions? I was outraged.

Kev,
It is just another example of the left hand not knowingwhat the righ hand is doing. In other words "reality does not matter"!
Where and when possible we do need to protect our fisheries. That I support. But obviously such an action does not in any way help fish survive or cause their demise.
Our green elitests once again do not care about any one or anything that is in xistince. Their goal is to have man out of the picture! Period! To them the end justifies the means every time! Talk about no scrupples!
