Default yfz problems :S

i know this is the bombardier forum but lol i like yall better so im posting it here..

sunday i was out riding and i was drag racing and my bike just felt like the clutch was slipping really bad.. it would get out of the hole and haul *** till about top 3rd gear then it felt like it was falling on its face after that.. i mean it was still revving really high.. just wasnt pulling as hard like the clutch was slipping pretty bad.. well i quit racing and i just start watching for a while.. then i am just going to go ride around no racing or nothing.. and i can just be putting around in 2nd gear and it feels like its just trying to lock up like its just going then cut out.. going then cut out.. going then cut out... so i just put on some more and then i kill it to see if its just overheated or something.. wait there about 30 mins or so just watching others ride and stuff.. and i try to start it.. and it wont even turn over.. so i put it in second gear and yank it backwards to see if the starters locked up or something.. well then i put it back in nuetral and it busts right off... well i kill it again.. and the same thing happens.. then i try to yank it backwards again and it just wont even turn over.. doesnt do crap.. well i pull start it and it runs fine.. going along in about third gear.. and it just completely shuts off.. well i just pull it back to the truck and load it up.. i get out there today and try to start it.. battery is COMPLETELY dead... so i hook some jumper cables up to it and it still wont turn over... i yank it backwards in gear again... and it will turn over like twice than freeze again... is it my starter? one way? or what?? this is pissing me off!!!!!! and it JUST went out of warranty too! very strange occurances. I wish that I could tell you that your problem was the starter, but that wouldn't solve the lack of power issue. It does sound electrical to me, and just to make sure... Have you adjusted any jetting, air filters or exhaust lately? If not, then maybe the rectifier or the mag. Possibly burned out which would mean not charging the battery, and not giving enough voltage to the ingnition for good combustion.

Just a thought....

Sounds crazy, maybe your DS put a hex on it.
It could just be your battery is shot, last year mine acted kind of like that, I had to get it pull started and keep it reved or it would die, it ran like crap just before it died.

I know mine ran like crap before the battery went.
If you get a battery get one for the Honda600 street bike, I'll try to find the number it puts out almost 2times the CCA as the stocker., you will have to cut out the little pouch behind the battery.

I thought I read somewhere that the kick starters are in the $600 range...you can buy quite a few batteries for that kind of $$$

not sure of the cost, I don't think it is 600. Mine has both right now, I am trying to decide which way to go. With the kicker you have to relocate the rear brake reservoir and loose the fender brackets. You are right, you can save a lot of weight by removing the battery, starter, + 12oz. of rotating mass from the gears in the motor. You will have to do some rewiring if you want to keep the lights.
