In that case you are just going to get a bunch of people like bloodyromance that are going to bad mouth anyone and anything that might disallow atvs from going in certain areas without considering the real reasons behind it.

You may be right, but bloody may have a better handle on it than you think. A neighbor just told me some tree huggers brought political pressure to get that road closed to ATV's and snowmobiles so it could "go back to nature." The county forrester put up the signs, but he was really angry about it. So, now he routes all possible logging traffic down that road.

If that's true, my question is answered. That's the most logical explanation I've heard so far. I'm certainly not surprised that bureaucrats can get angry at meddling from tree huggers.

my point exactly! have some respect to the person that knows whats up and who is right! and by the way, i love nature and i love the outdoors, which is why i don't go off of the roads but stick to trails. but when someone tries to close down trails were we ride and enjoy what was God given to us, then thats when i get a little chapped off. so get off yourselves.

Bloodyromance: First you make it sound like you don't care about nature by claiming that you run over endangered lizards because you disagree with the road closure to protect them. Then, you tell people to run from law enforcement that come to "give you smack" for being on a closed road. THEN, You continue and say in your next post that "you love nature and the outdoors" and that "you never go off trails and roads" and "God put it here for us to use". Well, first of all I don't think God would be too happy with you running over and killing a now endangered species HE created. It may be here for us to USE but not to ABUSE! Obviously you don't really love nature and have as much respect for the laws around it as you'd like to think. You really think before you act, DON'T CONTRADICT YOURSELF.

Nice...try to write it off as a joke. Next time you make a dumba$$ comment don't make excuses to cover it up. Also, I don't see any irony or figures of speech used to make any points in your post...in fact, your post made no points at all...congrats. Oh, next time you want to make a so called "joke" highlight it and label it in bold so everyone knows what it is...cause they arn't funny.

Brigits answer was by far the most logical one...but like she said you might want to goto the company or whoever is in charge to get a creditable answer pertaining to that certain plot of land. I bet there's alot more to it than you think.

Sorry to get things so stirred up. I never meant to gore the logging industry or imply that a logging company had that road closed. They might be able to do that in Oregon, but they can't in Wisconsin. So, there is no point in talking to the logging company. They are just following their permit from the County. Besides, loggers and atv'ers are on the same side for the most part.

Going to the county forrester is the logical thing to do normally. However, if he was slapped around by politicians goaded by tree huggers, he's going to keep his mouth tightly closed at this point. Otherwise he could get himself fired.

At this point, politics seems the only logical explanation as to why an ATV'er gets fined $175 for riding on a road that's getting churned to dust by logging equipment. One thing about politics is that it is always changing. So, I guess I need to start talking to some politicians.

No one thinks you are goring the logging industry, its just that these types of threads usually turn into people saying that everyone trying to do anything for the environment is bad and they are all out to get atver's. It got a little heated, but the main idea is that if you ask the logging company (someone in the office rather than the logger out cutting the trees) they will at least know why whatever agency it was made them put up the the sign closing the road. They may not agree with the reasoning, but the will know. Before you talk to any politicians you have to understand why its happening from all sides (the logging company and everyone's deplored "treehuggers"). The way these things usually turn out on here is a bunch of people ignorant of the issues get on here and whine about "treehuggers" and "greenies" without understanding the science behind anything or realizing that some environmentalists are extremists, but most are not. So anyway.....I just get frustrated with the onesidedness of most "environmental" topics on here. Good luck with your road.

You might have a good topic for another thread. Does anyone know any environmentalist types who are reasonable and rational when it comes to ATV's? I know one who somewhat fits that mold. I see him every morning in the mirror when I shave.

Unfortunately, most environmentalists who make the news tend to be taking positions that are illogical and irrational, and they seem to be pushing political agendas more than protecting the environment.

I truely feel sorry for my American friends who like to ride from what I understand it is getting harder and harder to find spots. We areso luckey up here where I live except for the occasional private land owner or a park or plantation we are not prohibited from riding where ever we wish, What a county!!!!!!!!!!
