From what I've seen the "rim" part would be a fairly flexible plastic with a honeycomb pattern which should be lighter than steel rims at least. You'd also have a lot less heavy rubber with the tread part only to the outside of the "rim/tire" combination. Interesting, but I'd like to see how they do for a couple years before buying them myself.
