Default 1987 Suzuki Lt250R Spark Issue

I am having issues with starting my ATV. If I get a new spark plug, it will spark on the first try and then nothing. I replaced the coil but it has the same problem. Conducted the magneto coil test in the Clymer manual which checks the pickup coil, power source, and lighting coil; everything checked out. Please help!

Check all the wiring to the CDI, including earth and kill wires. If they all check out, it is probably a faulty CDI, but they usually work or they don't so this would be a bit unusual. If you can, check the pickup and power coils are producing AC volts when engine is spun over, I don't know what an LT250R should be, but pickup is usually 0.4v or more, and power source circa 50v.

Merryman,

Thanks for the advice. I was busy with other issues for a bit but got back around to troubleshooting. I replaced the coil and the magneto but it was doing the same thing with intermittent spark. I disconnected all of the wires from the CDI and reconnected them and it turns out one of them was loose as when I put it all back together it had continuous spark and fired right up.
