Default Old suzuki 185: New Coil?

i dragged the dusty 70's suzuki 185 out of my grandmas basement. i put a new spark plug in it and there is no spark. There is power going into the coil but it seems that there is none coming out. Will i be able to put a universal coil on it and still use the same spark plug wires? How do i know the coil will even work?

Well I don't know what year it is but it could be old enough to have "point ignition". AND if it does have "points" those points could be corroded and have the wrong gap.

it does have point ignition but we checked that and it seems to be working fine. There appears to be juice going into the coil but none coming out.

Oh ok, I wasn't sure what information you gathered by testing the wires....anyways in my opinion I would think it's the coil.
Good Luck!!
