I recived this by email the other day, I'll never buy another ford as long as there're supporting the eco *****

Driven a Ford lately?

Recently, Ford Motor "greened" it's operation by providing five million dollars to the Audubon Society and another five mil to Earthwatch. Behind these huge gifts to the Greens, a grassroots group asked Ford for five thousand dollars to help stage a national meeting. Ford did not even bother to reply to the letter.

If you would like to comment to Ford Motor Company email: Sandra E. Ulsh at fordfund@ford.com

A Paragon list member took Ford to task in the below verbatim letter.

Hi Gwynn: I see where you people have given $5 million to the Audubon Society who are part of the radical amateur environmental group that wants to de-populate the West, as far as people are concerned. I have a couple Ford pickups, and have had many others, but as long as you support groups who want to run me out of business I'll never buy another. Do you think it's very intelligent to support people who are out to destroy your customer base??????

Best Regards,

Bob

Dear Mr. Bob

Thank you for your comments about Ford Motor Company Fund's grant to the National Audubon Society.

Ford's support of Audubon is limited to specifically funding environmental education and bird monitoring projects. The Audubon Important Bird Areas Program, Audubon Citizen Science projects, the Latin-America-based Schoolyard Ecology Program and BirdSource are all activities that will directly benefit from Ford's donation. BirdSource, for example, was created by Audubon and the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology and is a critical tool in maintaining biodiversity while harnessing the potential of citizen science.

Ford believes that the National Audubon Society approaches these issues with a sense of balance. Audubon, which has one of the largest environmental organization memberships in the United States, states that its mission is to "conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity."

For example, in Nebraska, Audubon worked hand-in-hand with local business owners and farmers to restore the Platte River, which had been diverted until it no longer flowed for parts of the year. Now the Platte waters the fields of central Nebraska's farmers while providing a home to its 500,000 Sandhill Cranes. In what is surely a win-win situation, these cranes have subsequently provided local businessmen with tens-of-millions of dollars in revenue from tourism every year.

We regret any confusion and concern about the announcement of Ford Motor Company Fund's donation to the National Audubon Society. Again, thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company. We value your comments and appreciate your loyalty. We trust that you will continue to favorably consider our products.

Sincerely,

Sandra E. Ulsh

Sandra, I appreciate your response, but please realize that Audubon Society, regardless of their less controversial efforts, is still part of the movement to run all ranchers off the unhomesteaded state lands in these western states, lands which are managed by the Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service, and as long as Audubon is supporting the depopulation of the West you have no business helping them destroy your customer base. I mentioned in my original letter that I had a couple Ford pickups, actually we have four Fords, including a 2000. It's a dandy diesel, but believe me, as long as you are supporting those who are working towards running me and my family out of business, that's the last Ford we'll ever buy. Count on it!! Best Regards,

Bob
