Have you ever tried to change insurance companies in the middle of a policy? Its not so easy. And God forbid if you have any pre-existing conditions, you can forget it. My Mother is 61 and had cancer 10 years ago, now her insurance costs her $1,200 a month, and that is a cheap plan, the good one costs $2,000. And she has money, but $24,000 a year for insurance is insanity.

I don't think the plan they are pushing is a good idea either. But there must be some medium the sides can reach.

Among the fact that insurance companies are making the choices, they are also skyrocketing medical costs because of the outrageous costs of malpractice insurance. Why is Obama not doing anything about that?

This plan addresses none of the real problems of why costs are so high. It is only a political band-aid that will mean nothing in the end. It certainly won't ruin medicine or lead us to socialism...... It won't do anything......

Remember that government run car insurance that was going to keep costs down? Remember how it was going to squash out all the big insurance companies and lead os to socialism? You might remember it, its called GEICO (Government Employee Insurance Company) and its now one of the biggest and most profitable insurance companies in the private sector. It did not ruin anything, and it really didn't do much to keep costs down. Sure at first it was cheaper, but slowly the gaps closed and they were all about the same price...... Same thing will happen with GEHICO (Government Employee Health Insurance Company) ......OK so that's probably not going to be the name.....

That is something I wonder about myself.
