Again, I completely understand where your coming from Moose. The first thing I thought of when you said this was child support which will also be garnished in wages even if the mom is a millionaire and doesn't need it. I feel Health insurance is in the same boat and we owe it to our kids.

And Obama's qualifications were? Oh yeah, he was from that state Abe Lincoln was from. They seem to run that pretty well, don't they?

Okay, but where is the money going to come from? If we taxed the top 10% of earners in this country (the same people who pay 60-65% of all tax revenue now) 100% of their profits we still can't pay off the debt. We pay $500 million a week in interest to China alone. Where is the money going to come from? We keep saying, "we need this program and that program", but there is a cost to every government program out there. When the government takes over a private function or industry they add another layer of cost to anything being done. And we, the taxpayer, foot the bill. Every time you take more money out of the taxpayers pockets, they have less to spend. They have less to spend, they cut back on wants in order to afford needs. As they cut back on the goods and services that are wants the businesses that provide them have less income. They, in turn, must make cuts to stay afloat. That means cut hours or let people go. More people (10.2% right now) are out of work. Those people make cutbacks and spend less money. The economy does exactly what it is doing now. Look at what Barney Frank, from here in Massachusetts, did. With his prodding government loan institutions began making loans to people who could not afford them. They then started to influence banks through the FDIC to create the same kind of loans, or else! Eventually, large percentages of the loans proved to be unpayable by the mortgagees and they defaulted. This led to a banking and real estate collapse. Look where we are today. Now, businesses are holding back on hiring because they don't know what to expect for next year and beyond. With Cap and Trade, "healthcare reform", EPA mandates, etc. as possibilities they know they will end up paying for them. If I was still doing construction I wouldn't hire anybody right now unless I absolutely couldn't make it work without a new hire. There are too many programs that the government is talking about that are going to rear up and bite us hard in the wallet. I don't know about you, but, between Mass. taxes and federal taxes I was paying almost 50% of my profit to the government when I was a small businessman. When is enough, enough? The reason we can enjoy our quads and go out for a ride isn't because the government helped us along. We worked hard, saved some money, and bought them so we could ride. I've taken or not taken jobs in the past based on benefits. We have freedom only for as long as we don't relenquish it. If the government forces things down our collective throats eventually government will have a say in a majority of our decisions. I seem to remember a bunch of "indians" that threw a load of tea into a nearby harbor because of government oppression. I'm with them.

I guess I just understand the "If the Health Care bill does not pass it will put America into bankruptcy" comment in the first place. I mean how could any business continue to operate in the red "forever"..... and not be considered bankrupt? I mean with a never ending debt that we can never pay off.. I think the country is already there.

It's a government ran program. It's not free. We will pay for the services. Sure, there will be some that get discounts (low income) but, rest assured they will be sure to make a profit.

I,m getting to the point where I thing debt does not even matter any longer to the government, with these bails outs, stimulus packages and two wars going on.

The National debt sign in NY is at 13 Trillion now, in 10 years it maybe at 23 trillion but so what the sun will still go up and come down ,and people saying "Remember the good old days when it was only at a mire 13 trillion".

Heath care will be exspensive they say? Who cares just pile it on with the rest.

If the government really wants to improve healthcare, and I mean both democrats and republicans, maybe the government themselves should be required to use the same system they're trying to set up for the rest of us instead of the nice little system they have now. The one that we're paying for.

That would be like forcing them to eat the same food they purchase for the school system... wait they DID do that and now "within a week" they are investigating the whole program.

Excellent idea, Scooter, if they all had to stand in line, fill out forms, jump through hoops like the rest of us, they would probably have some new "ideas" about health care programs. When a private on call doctor is available to you,it is hard to see healthcare as a "problem" that needs fixing.
And Moose, please don't leave me thinking that for even a moment you would consider PALIN as a valid candidate for anything but a talk show !!!!!

Not only is it not free. It will end up being more expensive than people getting private insurance as a whole.
