Hate speak is always a problem regardless of the reference or target. Calling people a **** is serious hate speak. They did some of the worlds most horrific atrocities and tried to take over the world. Not something that should be used casually to me no matter what. It is strange how it gets thrown around so liberally FunRide. Not OK. Developing comfort with hate speak is one step closer to developing comfort with hate action for some.

Please, if you are going to watch TV shows claiming to be news (they are not, none of them) be careful thinking what they broadcast is meant for anything other than ratings. It is a regular old business like any other. Said it before, they should absolutely be there, 1st Ammendment, but no relationship to news. May as well be Saturday Night Live.

 

I was just in Tempe.....Nice town. Makes me want to move to the desert. It's a very divided deal. I didn't see any of the problems, but we were right across from the University. Don't see a lot problems around there. No denying it, there are problems. Too bad somebody who lives there hasn't chimed in with an opinion.

 

Definitely not to be thrown so casually. Pictures of each party as Hitler is a pretty stupid thing to do. People see though that crap, most semi-intelligent people do anyway. Who on earth honestly thinks the Governor of Arizona is Hitleresque or Obama is the second coming of Hitler. It's simply bizarre. The left did it to Bush too. Such stupid crap. I can remember lots of pictures of Bush with **** symbols. People are f--ing idiots.

Regular old business is right. They battle for Nielson ratings and say what they need to say to get the ratings. This goes for MSNBC and Fox. People get sucked into this stuff as if it's all factual.

 

The difference with Beck is he uses the words of the people he's speaking of to label them. If someone speaks like a communist or socialist, has a cabinet full of people who also do the same, and pushes an agenda that leans in that direction, maybe the label is true. Time will tell. But, when you use someone's own words as evidence maybe you have a point. That's what holds up in a court of law, not labelling someone without any evidence. From the heart the mouth speaks. Good and bad. If they don't like what he is saying they should refute the evidence he is using to make his point. They can't because he is using there own words. The present administration, his cabinet, and his friends views (all documented in speeches with audio and written transcripts) are troubling to me. We all surround ourselves, for the most part, with people who agree with our views. The things that have been said are indications of leanings or beliefs. That is what is troubling to me. If people have an issue with what Beck is saying why don't they actually refute the evidence he is using instead of just bashing him and Fox and calling them names. If someone calls me fat, I have to suck it up and say, "You know you're right about that. I really have got to work on it." I shouldn't just jump on the person and say, "What an idiot you are. You obviously have a thing against people who are gravitationally challenged." If the shoe fits... I didn't agree with a lot of what Bush did, Clinton did, or Bush Senior did when he went back on his "no new taxes" pledge. Reagen I liked except for how his Supreme Court picks worked out. Time will tell with the present administration whether we were right or wrong.

 

They have a series of tv's here at work and they have CNN, and Fox News on two to them. Sound is down (thankfully) but in the morning I always see some good looking woman in figure flattering attire and have to wonder if she's there because she has the reporting skills of Walter Cronkite or is it because she's got a nice pair of legs?

And don't even get me started on Geraldo.

 

I always wondered why Fox hired him? Gag... The funniest reporting I ever saw was when he was imbedded with the troops hunting Bin Laden in the Tora Bora region of Afghanistan. It seems like a Taliban or Al Quaeda sniper didn't like him either. As he was prattling on a bullet pinged off a rock about 3 feet from him. I never saw somebody go so white so fast. I think he had an IBM because the report was cut short. In Iraq he was imbedded with the troops again and was talking about an upcoming offensive. He actually started drawing out the plans live on TV in the sand. I think the Army officer was ready to kill him. They quickly scuffed out the drawings and the report ended abruptly.

 

I'd almost bet money it was friendly fire.

I still want to kick his behind for doing that.

 

I don't wish anybody getting shot (except for those who would harm others) but I found myself almost wishing he had got winged.

 

Yeah, I guess I don't want him to get shot.

What kind of choices do we have between getting shot and getting your nose broke with a folding chair.

 

Hmmm... There's an automatic paintball gun into the torso at about 25 feet. Trust me, it hurts. I love it when the young kids get my already stretched stomach when I'm breathing in. Ugghh...
