You know it's gotten bad now that comedians (other than Jay Leno) are starting to make fun of The Chosen One.

George Washington: “A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.”

Just wish a "good supply of ammunition" was also included in the 2nd Amendment wording..

Probably wouldn't last long enough to run out. There has been moves to create security forces within the IRS, BLM-Bureau of Land Management, FDA, and other government institutions where you scratch your head and say, "Why do they need armed agents?"

It’s not controversial that the Secret Serviceand the Bureau of Prisons have them (Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams). But what about the Department of Agriculture, the Railroad Retirement Board(WTF?), the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Office of Personnel Management, theConsumer Product Safety Commission, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service? Allof these have their own SWAT units and are part of a worrying trend towards themilitarization of federal agencies — not to mention local police forces.

Happy 238th birthday, USA! Still the greatest country in the world to live. I hope everyone has a safe and blessed day. I also hope we think about the freedoms that were bought with our forefathers' blood here in the US. We threw off a tyrannical government that oppressed us to the point we said, enough is enough. Think about how the present administration through the IRS wants to hammer those that disagree with them. Think how this administration made gun shops send guns over the border to Mexico that in turn ended up in the hands of drug cartels who shot our Border Patrol Agents to prove guns can be illegally sold. How the NSA is now spying on US citizens who have no ties to terrorists.... etc. We can do better than this. Stand your ground and don't let them take away our freedoms that were purchased with the precious blood of our forefathers and our men and women in uniform.

How far we've come from this:
"There is a rank due to the United States, among nations, which will be withheld, if not absolutely lost, by the reputation of weakness. If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known that we are at all times ready for war." --George Washington, Fifth Annual Message, 1793

Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965): "The inherent vice of capitalism is the uneven division of blessings, while the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal division of misery."

"[W]e still find the greedy hand of government thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry, and grasping the spoil of the multitude. Invention is continually exercised, to furnish new pretenses for revenues and taxation. It watches prosperity as its prey and permits none to escape without tribute." --Thomas Paine, Rights of Man, 1791
