I currently own a 2002 Ford Lightning SVT, Demag, Stock my Ford ran 13.8 in the 1/4! For only $600.00 in parts consiting of a chip pulley kit and staul my truck now runs high 12's. Also the prices of the trucks are nearly the same! And I am proud to say, my truck is the fastest production truck in the world!! Just my two cents on this topic!

 

Well, you have a supercharger. So, yeah, it will be fast. It is built to be fast. No surprise there. The prices of the trucks are not even close. Are you trying to tell me that you can buy a brand new Lightning for $20,000 off the showroom floor? Sorry, not happening. And like I said before, put a Kenne Bell supercharger on a Ram 1500 Hemi short box 4x2 regular cab w/ exhaust, chip, and intercooler for approx. $6,000 and it will beat the Lightning. So, for $26,000 approx. (still about $4,000 to $5,000 less then Lightning) you have a truck built for working and hauling that will hang with or even beat a truck built for racing. And I do believe Eiger was asking about the Dodge, not the Lightning so your $.02 are not relevent on this topic.

Oh, and sorry to burst your bubble but the new Dodge Ram SRT-10 with 500 HP is the fastest production pickup in the world. Look, I'm not trying to bash the Lightning. Its a great truck. But its not all its hyped up to be.

Check out this guy's truck. Its SWEET! Chevy Silverado Extended Cab, 4x4, 6.0L Vortech, Supercharger, Nitrous, etc etc. Lots of mods. Its really cool seeing a 6,000 lb work truck smoking Mustangs and WS6's. Check out the video of the Silverado racing the Lightning. Silverado runs 12.46 and the Lightning runs 12.25. Notice how the Lightning is running Slicks while the noticeably larger and heavier Silverado is running regular street tires. And that was a bad run for the Silverado.

Hmmmmm are we forgetting about the GMC Syclone? Do a convertor and exhaust on it and watch your convertor & exhaust Lightning get anhilated! All with a 10+ year old 6-Cyl.

 

Those are plain insane! I once saw a video of a Grand National (6 cyl for those who don't know) with Twin Turbos protruding from the hood get 1000 RWHP on a dyno. When he really got on it, the tires were smoking on the dyno. I've seen 850HP Supras and Skylines on dyno runs that didn't smoke the tires. It was just SICK seeing this thing have no traction even on a dyno and still have it read 1000 HP. Imagine if he had traction. I'd say it would be around 1400 to 1500 HP.

I think however one of the, "biggest bang for the buck." Deals will be the Kenne Bell supercharger kit for the HEMI 5.7 when it comes out. The HEMI has a lot of potential and with exhaust, gears and the supercharger it's going to do a lot of OWNING on the streets [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

Yeah, "when it comes out" is the key phrase. It was supposed to be out in July. Now they say end of this month. I doubt it. They have them built and ready to go. Even have them in a few trucks. But they are having problems with the computer. Apparently Dodge Corp is not releasing the codes so aftermarket companies can build performance computers for them. My best guess is Mopar wants to put out a performance chip first, show how much just a computer upgrade can do, make a bunch of money, then release the codes so others can get a piece of the action. Good tactic, but it sucks for everyone who wants to upgrade their trucks.

Yeah, I have that video on my HD. Its pretty cool. I have a lot of really sweet videos but nowhere to host them. I have one of a Dodge Ram 3500 Dually w/ Cummins Turbo Diesel running a 12.149 1/4 mile. Its really cool.

Heh I have the Dually video myself. We have a "farm truck" class at our local drag strip they race everything from modded diesels to old 460 powered Ford trucks pretty neat.
