I can see it in the magazines now!

Dirt Wheeels- The all new Raptor just can't compete with the 400EX as the EX smokes it on the MX track and in the woods! The EX's handling cannot be equaled!!
ATV Action- We lined up the Raptor with the 400EX in every possible terrain and no matter what, the EX had a 2 to 3 bike length lead at the end of the drag!!, the EX is still the Quad to beat!!
Looks like Yamaha is back to the drawing board as Honda is on top once again!!!
get the point? and I'm even a Honda owner!
Here's my advice read ATV sport!
see ya!

You forgot on extra point. Since the new Raptor cost more than the 400ex, they will add the price difference in mods to the 400ex. Just to even it out the prices.
But seriously, I actually think the mags will have the Raptor on top, or at least they better. If not, nothing will have people believing them anymore.
That is unless the 400ex is actually still better?

If the Raptor delivers most of what is promised the 400Ex is in trouble. A 5 valve engine, less than 400 pounds with a 660cc engine. Maybe it will be like the DS fast in dunes & fire roads, but a tank in the woods? I am sure some reviews will be out in a few months.
My money is Yamaha is going to set the Sport quad industry on fire. Yamaha likes winning, whether its personnal water craft, motorcycles, snowmobiles, or quads.

You know, I am all for the 400ex. I ride with one on the weekends. I would love to have it. But here is the deal. Maybe now, with some other performance quads on the market, we will not see the 400ex on every page of every magazine out there as much.

If the magazines ever take back their 400ex is god crap, I will be very surprised... Even the DS650 didn't get the hype the EX did.
And on top of that, there is nothing that is a big deal about the 400ex except that it's new and from Honda. If Yamaha made the 400ex, and it was blue and called a Warrior 400, do you think it would have got near the hype? I doubt it. They would have just said that it's a great handling, good step in the right direction, but not quite there...
