honorably? How honorable was he when he came home? Let's first figure out how he got home. Oh, wait didn't he put in to get out of the AO early? If memory serves me right he got denied... so what does any rich white kid do that goes to Vietnam? get three "walking wounded" purple hearts and go home. Wonder how many poor folks from the inner cities across the country tried that one. and knowing how crooked the hippie pot head is I wouldn't be surprised to find out mommy and daddy somehow helped him get home. Let's ask Kerry how much dope he smoked while hanging out with a known TRAITOR Jane Fonda protesting the war. I got 10 bucks saying he'd lie about that too..... I'm not a fan of some of the stuff Bush is trying to do but he'll get my vote over Kerry. I've seen honorable service.... I've seen honorable service in combat.... Kerry doesn't impress me.

There is nothing I have more respect for than someone who risks their life so that we can sit here and freely express our opinions. I personally thank you for your bravery and strength in defense of our country and protecting the liberties we all enjoy.

I agree with your judgement of Kerry's miltary service, but I think our commander in chief should have at least some idea of what he is sending soldiers into.

I ask you, when you were called did you go?

When Bush's time came he was bumped to the top of the list for the Texas air national gaurd. At the time it was one of many schemes people figured out to avoid VietNam. He himself admits he wanted nothing to do with combat. You have to realize at the time it was an unpopular war, ask anyone. The working class Joes were getting drafted left and right. I have three uncles who were drafted, weren't happy about it and went. At that time people of privilage usually didn't have to go, there were plenty of loopholes.

Kerry, volunteered and served. He came back disgusted by the futility of a failed mission. Like many he saw the senslessness of it. As a man of thought he spoke out against it. Heck, by then the majority of Americans couldn't wait for it to end. Surely you can respect that.

As for not being impressed with his service, do a little reading on what river boat fighting was like in that war. None of us here can justly sit here and say we know what that hell hole was like, unless we were there.
