check your spark plugs and wires, one of your cylinders prolly isnt firing, make sure you check the spark plug wires to the distributor becasue it happened to my sister, i told her thats what it was but nobody ever believes me and she went to a friend they checked it out and one of the cylinders wasnt firing... it still ran alright but you can tell it wasnt very powerful, her check engine lightwouldnt go off either..
i hope this helps
Thx for the tip but it's not a bad plug or a miss.

The Throttle Position Sensor (tps) is a rheostat very simmilar the the dimmer switch for your interier lights. It's just a simple variable resister. When the throttle opens the resistance changes. The computer takes this resistance, engine load (Map sensor) rpm etc and uses the info provided to adjust the fuel mixture.

The error codes point to the TPS or a problem in it's wireing. Most likely it has a broken wire in the tps itself which confuses the computer. Increasing the throttle position gets past the bad spot in the wire and the jeep takes off like a raped ape!

But at slow speeds just above idle like in a parking lot can be a handful.

The 2 nearby dealers including the one that I bought it from just don't want to bother with it. I'm too cheap and lazy to fix it myself, it's a warranty problem and I feel that I should not have to deal with it myself.

Oh back to the original question. I did general auto repair for 15 years. I then drive 18 wheelers for 5 years. I'm back fixin cars again. This time I'm at a radiator and A/C shop.

I am a soil engineering technician. I inspect earthwork construction. I am now working on a housing tract that is sold out before they broke ground! Why do people want to come to California? At least I can ride my atv all day and get paid.
