Those unions were needed in the 40s and 50s but not today. Try owning a business and try to find and hire people who want to actually work. It's a joke. If you get somebody worth a crap, you pay them well enough to keep them because it's so costly to find and train new employees. If your employer is taking advantage of you, you have the freedom to go somewhere else.

I would have to agree about one thing though, it is more fun to talk about beer. And better yet to actually drink it.

Aww yes Beer O'clock is almost here.. As for the Fair Labor Act changes as i understood it... Its intention was to simplify things. as it was if you worked over 40 a week it was overtime. and if you wanted to work 48 one week so you could take the next friday off to goto the dunes, your employer legally would have to pay you overtime but ya'll make an agreement and trade the hours. That was unfair according to the old labor act. so they made changes. people with flex time the same. if your union your OT dont matter anything over 8 a day is OT. at least in washington. and under the union laws here saturday is always time and a half with exception to make up days. as for regular joes if your a valuable employee and your workin extra and the company wants to stiff ya OT tell em to stick it if you give me no inscentive I work my 40 and i done. if they need the help they will pay it.

Will you have employers who try to exploit this, you bet. what do you do about it. dont work for them. and if enough people tell em to suck it, they will either go outta business or get crappy employees that dont care. Your actions control your destiny.

They were talking about that bill on tv tonight, and it seems the only ones who might be exempted from the mandatory time-and-a-half pay after 40 hours are certain positions that generally pay over $100K per year. So, that sounds like a very small fine print point that the dems are throwing out there to make Bush look heartless mean etc. Anybody making over 100k ain't hourly people anyway. Joe sixpack atv rider ain't gettin screwed like the popular demogoguery is claiming, at least the way I'm hearing it.
So lets just have that beer now!

Ok, why, why in the world would you vote for bush. I am not a demacrat or republican. I vote for whoever can do a better job and bush isnt getting my vote.
Bush in his adds having people to lie just because they are hard nosed republicans makes no sense. why be so hard nosed. vote for who you like, not the party. Besides i never saw bush fight for anything. At least kerry was there.
I also dont like bush for how darn cocky he is. have you seen him give a speech. what the h e ##. he does that little back and forth cocky stance and leans all the way over the podium. Stand up strait bushy boy.
What has he done for the gas prices lately. nothing. my dad workes at a gm plant and they are laying off because of him and not helping. I dont really remember any problems with clinton and the economy, there wasnt any problems untill bush came. KERRY!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S somwhere in a village in texes there is a village idiot missing.

what do you think clinton did for the economy? name a policy the HE did (the balanced budget was passed by the republican congress; as far as the SURPLUS he claims - it wasnt real. it was projected. ficticious. there was NO money in the bank). The only thing he did for the economy was NAFTA. and the largest tax increase in history. We wont even go there. ybut ou can blame nafta for your jobs going south.
EX: Ford is making trucks in mexico now....
But you cant blame bush for the economy today.
WHen clinton came to office, the economy was already in an upward trend. When he left office in was spiraling down. if you do not bevelive me look it up. I will not explain economic cycles to you again. Ive already posted some of that. There was a crest of a wave that clinton rode b/c of the technology/information age arising out of an industrial age. Technology became overvalued (remember microsoft hitting over 100 bucks per share and bill gates worth $80 BILLION? That's overvalued.),
and then it overheated just as top economists were warning of throughout the boom.
The boom was coming to an end in 2000, bush was elected and inherited a faltering economy. He took office in late Jan 2001- all of a sudden it crashed because of him being in office? Thats superstitious bullcrap. If you think his polices caused it, and if you think that any of HIS policies were in effect yet - they werent. Nope, we were still on clintons crap. if clinton would have served a third term (if possible) the same thing would have happened.
ALso, i cannot stress enough how shaken the financial world (and world for that matter) became after 9/11. Was that bush's fault (according to dumbass moore it was). No, if clinton was still in office the same things would have happened.
In fact, we would be worse off, b/c CLINTON would have panicked during the recession (normal cycle of the economy by the way), raised taxes and more people would be out of work. Dont believe me? You know what he and GORE suggested to Russia? RAISE TAXES On the people. How suprising. A people that dont have anything - raise taxes on them, increase their burden. Im sorry, but WTH??? That will solve nothing and make things worse. Oh, thats right it did make things worse over there. They used that same logic with the USA.
I know that since bush has been in office my check has been bigger and ive FINALLY gotten tax money REFUNDED to me. I NEVER got a refund under clinton. and I am NO WHERE near the top 1%.
As far as oil goes, OPEC has alot to do with that. They are greedy. World energy demand has also gone up. We are too dependant on foriegn oil but the democratic senate will not pass Bush's energy bill.
but hey, i cant make you vote for bush or see the truth about how an economy really works. you want everyone on here to "open their mind." Open to what? Kerry will raise your taxes and shut your riding areas down to please tree huggers. he will screw your healthcare system up, and when you are hurting and need to see a doctor, be prepared to wait in line.
