HoundDog06 is quite correct about the EPA reccomendations. Problem is that many of the manufacturers have taken the "hint" and are attempting to stay one jump ahead of what they see coming. The liberal states tend to adopt more and stricter laws when it comes to the "protection" of the enviroment. Not always a bad thing but easy to take to excess. The 2-cycle outboard motor is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. No more, AFAIK, two stroke lawnmowers, been a long time since I saw any new two cycle utility engines being offered for sale.

I don't think it will be that many years before you wont find any two cycle engines used in generally available equipment.

JMHO - I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

 

Thank's for the info HoundDog06, out here in Ca. I don't even think about the EPA, we have something way better, C.A.R.B.
WAY more tree huggin than you guy's. I'm hoping the new Gov. will see how out of control they are, maybe slow them down a little.

even if the companies do go through with this they will realize the drawbacks..... when thier racing reputation starts dropping....... 2-strokes will live on(even if i dont have a 2-stroke atv...)
i have a 2-stroke pocket rocket thats close enough.... people arent going to go along with this they will start buying older 2-stroke atvs and fixing them.

 

So instead of the EPA we can blame California right?

 

With the tougher EPA standards they are being phased out but i read that some manufactures are getting "credits" for producing quads that meet the 2006 standards now and can produce 2 strokes for a few extra years.

 

You wont get an arguement from me on that statement.
