Default I need advice on helmets

Hi guys. I was wondering if anyone could offer me advice on which helmet I should purchase. I am going to be purchasing a polaris trailblazer, and I need the proper gear. I am looking for something that has a good safety rating, comfortable, and not a ton of money. (I've seen some helmets for $500-$600!) I know that having a good helmet is worth every penny, but do I really need one that expensive. I am willing to spend the money to get a good quality helmet, not a fancy name brand one (I'll probably cover it with graphics anyways). Thanks.

When looking for a helmet I look for one that is Snell and DOT approved. They go through a little more testing than just DOT approved. I dont have any name brands to give you. I paid sumpin like 100-120 for mine. BTW welcome to the forums.

I'd spend the extra money on boots, gloves, goggles and a chest protector. Unless you plan on major speed and jumps, any dot approved helmit will protect you just fine.

Frizzle,

here's a link for some good info on Snell & DOT Ratings also here is a link for passed and failed helmets.. might be a good idea to see if yours has been tested by DOT

My brand failed due to labeling?

WTH? If you can't figure out how to use a helmet, you don't have much to protect anyway.

PS - It's Dot approved

Here is a link to a good helmet site. I have a couple of the Vega Mojave helmets. They are really comfortable good vents and DOT approved.

$500 to $600 is pricey for an offroad helmet. I gave $225 for mine and $180 for my sons. My street helmet cost me $550 but it's worth it because of the speed and how the pavement likes to grind things off.

You can find a good helmet for around $100. You just mostly pay for the name when they they get really expensive.
