Will gas prices affect your riding?
Super is only 5 cents away from $3.00 a gallon where I live. Fortunately I only live about 7 miles away from thousands of acres of national forest so it won't make much difference to me. A few bucks there and back and a few bucks for my V for a day of fun.
The people I wonder about is the people that get up a 4 in the morning and drive for 3 hours to ride in my area. Now your talking BIG bucks to get to the riding area!!!!
What about you?

My main riding area is a 50 gallon round trip with the camper. So, last year it cost me 90 bucks fuel at $1.80, today it costs 130 at $2.60. I'll still go every chance I get. But now, I can buy a motel room for what I save in mileage if I leave the camper home (10 vs 16 mpg) so that's a new factor to consider.

My main riding area is 35 miles one way. Mountain trips 100 to 150 miles one way. I will still go to Pismo in july, about 220 miles one way. If I let gas prices affect my hobby I would go crazy. This may sound silly but it is only money, I can make more. I will spend less some where else to keep riding. Gas is getting expensive, but in contrast we have no problem paying $1.00 for a quart of bottled water, or $1.50 for a litre of soda. No where else can I get the rush/pleasure I get from riding. At 45, I still havn't found a good alternative yet.
The thing that amazes me about raising gas prices, is that it has no effect on commuters speed during commuting hours around me. No one slows down even a little to try and save a little money. I have backed off to 70 mph from 80+ and my mileage went from 21 to 26. Just one of the ways i will be saving money for riding trips.

We were going to go to Oregon Dunes this summer, but that trip is probably out. Otherwise, I don't think it will effect my local riding at all. Probably won't go any farther than Pismo and Mammoth this summer.
Luckily, I have a 2 minute commute to work!

the closest place to ride legally for me is around 2 1/2 hours away. the trails there suck. the first nice place to ride legally is around 3 1/2 hours away( 225 miles each way) so, hauling a 30 ft camper, a 4x4 grizzly, and all my stuff in a truck that gets around 6 mph all loaded up, i am thinking of getting a geo and mounting the hitch on the roof for my camper, lmao! i,ll put the grizzly on the hood!!!

i think they are raising them just to get a boost with the income they make, it may go down, come july and august but we're still climbing we're gonna reach 2.50 minimum, thats a good bit of money to squeeze 80 gallons of gas into our pickup, ( 2 tanks) but it teaches us a great lesson in conservation, the car pooling isn't really gonna take on real well, but you can always walk or somethin, how the he!! do you think the amish got where they did, lol! i don't ever want to see a hydrogen car out on the market but i think one company makes it. but i will not drive a water powered car, i will drive diesel and gasoline. but to the point, it is not effecting my riding.
