LMAO! that's down right funny.
Okay I have a good sense of humor I can laugh at me just like everyone else does so here goes.
when I was a youngster I tried the ole spit in the palms routing once. Well the bat kept slippin' out of my hands. From that day forward I was never to proud to go hunt down a resin bag new, used, ragged and abused it didn't matter. Oh sure my average went up, but I still got the occasional Swiiiing & a Miss and struck out. Well always one to better myself I started improving on my technique. Good thing I did, My career was at an all time high. Granted I was no Hall of Famer but I was on top of my game. Then I hit the best home run of my life. Thats when I figured I would give up the sport, go out on a high note if you will. I gotta say looking back on the "Glory Days" sure does put a smile across my face.

Champ- Fish took ya out again last night, not only that we lost to I really hope the Padres can pull it off, I dont like the Diamondbacks at all!
They made me pitch the second game I played in softball last night, I'am not a pitcher! I'am an out-fielder! All I can do is serve up rockets and bombs or walks Not to mention I pissed the other team off pretty good, so they sent 5 lasers right back at me.

I never could pitch...only did it in mop up or blowout situations. I was 1st base, outfield and catcher, but my forte' was hitting....used to train with a scout for the Astros and on occasion, Tony Gwynn would come by and hang out...that was so cool. I ended up quitting baseball because of the politics in high school, it was in my favor, but I questioned if I got special treatment, what happens when the next hot shot comes in and replaces me because his daddy had money.....I ran into my trainer 2 years later and he gave me an earfull telling me he had already told the Astros to keep an eye out for me..... Oh well, hindsight is always 20/20...

Ahh, the coulda, shoulda, woulda's! That is one serious shoulda though! Imagine the coulda's! O man, what a life that woulda been. I cant think of to many things I would rather do, then to get paid in the millions to play baseball professionaly, but there are a few.

I look and think, man even if I was a journeyman utility player that could hit about .270 I'd be rollin!!! Yeah it would have been great, but I can live with my decision.
There were several reasons this guy was pi$$ed at me, the first was that at each level I played at, I increased my average till I quit as a senior with a B.A. of .402 I never hit below .340....I had a goalie's mentality on the field and would air myself out and make plays even I couldn't fathom and I had sprinter's speed from all the years of soccer...I was usually at 3rd base after 3-4 pitches after a single. Heck I even used a wood bat in a sea of aluminum and was able to manage a 435' shot as a sophomore.....(As Nepoleon Dynamite would say...IDIOT!!!)

Wow! 435' is a shot! Especially with a wood bat. Sounds like you had a chance. I just play old mans ball now. Softball. Its good excercise and gives me another excuse to get out of the house.

I had power, but was a line drive hitter. Our field had a 400' center field and the fence was about 20' tall, I used to nail that all day long. Gwynn taught me how to spray the ball around all fields, so 1/2 of my homers were to Left Center (I bat lefty) My big shot was a 1st pitch fastball in an All Star Game and the coach, whom I hated, told me to take.....I never give a pitcher a strike, so long as the first pitch is close, I'm swinging. Needless to say I gave him the look as I rounded the bases.
The best part was when we got to the dugout. He tried to yell at me for swinging away...I just laughed. Next time up, 1st pitch single (Told to take again LOL) then, without the sign, stole 2nd and 3rd on consecutive pitches. So now we're on 3rd and he's giving me an earfull from the coach's box and asks what, you gonna steal home too?? The pitcher hears this and puts one in the dirt and I come home....LOL Next inning, I got pulled.....LOL At that point all the parents about lost their mind.
Ahhh youth sports...
