Default Riding Boots

I am looking at some new riding boots. I can't afford the top of the line boots nor do I think I really need them. I can afford to spend 150 or less on a pair of boots. What is the best riding boot in this range? So far I have looked at the Thor quadrant and t-30 and Fox Tracker boots, Oneal M-10, and Alpinestars Tech 4. Which of these is the best and why?

Alpinestars. I have used many other brands and will now never buy anything but Alpinestars. More comfortable and take abuse better.

I just bought my wife and I a pair of Rocky ATV Quadsport boots, they come in black and mossy oak camo. they retail for $149.99 but cabelas has them for $89.99 right now and when you buy a pair they also send you a $20 cabelas gift card to use on a later purchase, the boots are a real good quality and heavy duty and they are also water proof. here is a link below.

That is a real bargain at $89.00, Hard to beat it with 20.00 off.

I am an Alpinestars guy! I pick the Tech 4 with ATV sole for riding the utilities. This is more casual riding in rough, mountain terrain. We are off the bike a lot exploring old mines and busting through snow banks, and the 4's are easy to walk in. But, they certainly don't offer the ankle protection of the other Tech's.

I pick the Tech 6 for riding the sport quads. This is very agressive desert cross-country riding. These offer a great combination of light weight and protection for both lower leg and ankle.

I pick Tech 8 for racing.

I just got my son a pair of Fox Trackers with Off-Road sole. (The kid is 11 years old and already wears a mens size 9!) They were around $120 from Rocky Mountain, and they pay the shipping. I do think they offer more ankle protection than the Tech 4, but still are flexible enough for easy walking.

Those quad sport boots look like they'll be too warm for summer riding. And the velcro upper closure don't work too well in keeping things tight. I had a pair of Oneal elements that had a velcro closure on the top and buckles on the bottom. With those I could never get a a good snug fit.

Thanks for the replies. I have been leaning toward the Thor Quadrant boots but will check out the Tech 4's

I have the fox trackers and dont have any issues with them. At first there tight but they break in nice and the buckles are a tight snap down but they stay put once in.

the quadsport boot has plenty of ankle protection and when you open the upper velcro there is webbing in there to keep the water/mud out. I put the boots on and they feel pretty tight to me around the leg, oh by the way I was gonna say that the $89 quadsport boots have the 600 grams of insulate but if you go to the non-insulated quadsport boots they are only $69 and you still get the $20 cabelas gift card but they only come in mossy oak not black, that is why I got the 600 gram insulated boot. below is the link for the non-insulated rocky atv quadsport boot.

I like the Fox Trackers too. Are they comfortable to walk in? I just wish the ATV sole would come in something other than black.
