I just recently purchased a Lowrance Globalnav 12 GPS unit an really like it, even if I'm still just learning how to use the thing! Anyway, I really hate to pay $40-60 for a "RAM" mount like in the Cabela's catalog and others. It also looks like it would be an easy target for a branch to hit and destroy my $150 GPS unit!

I have a tank-bag on my AC500 and had thought of putting a thick (2" wide)piece of velcro on the top of the tank-bag neoprene
(top of the gas tank) and mounting the GPS that way. I know I don't really need to mount the thing anyway, but hate to stop every 100 feet or so to pull it out of my pocket to see what is going on!

Anybody have any ideas or things they have tried?
