Stolen Quad
#1
On 10-24-99 at around 6:00p.m. my neighbor had his Polaris atv taken. The missing is a 1994 Polaris 350 2x4 two cycle. It is white and red with a blue seat. Red racks front and back. Whind shield with a mirror on the upper left corner. It has 6600 miles, Front tires almost new rear tires almost worn out. Also has a black tow bar on the front. At the time of the theft the ATV was sitting next to a grain bin and we were cutting soy beans 1/8 mi. down the road. We went to use it once and found the key missing. The farmer asked his wife to bring back the extra key with the next trip back to the main farm with a load of beans. When she returned an hour later it was gone. We searched all over the area thinking they might have ditched it to pick it up after dark but it could not be found. The location is North West of Decatur Illinois just outside Warrensburg. The Sheriff said there have been several stolen in Macon county over the last month. This was the first we knew of a problem. I live about a 1/2 mi form the theft location. I went home to check on mine and it was still in the shed. I will add to this post later with the Serial number. If you see a machine like this show up in your area please call the Macon County Sheriff 217-424-1311

Unfortunatley the chances of recovering the ATV in Illinois are slim, at best. Illinois has to registration/titiling laws. Even if you guys had the VIN, and gave it to the Sheriff all he/she would most likely do is enter it into LEADS (where it be listed as stolen, if another agency runs the VIN through LEADS, however the chances of that, like I said are slim). I know, I used to be a Police Officer in Illinois. More ATV's are stolen in this state than just about any other due to the "systems" inability to protect us. I've favored fee imposed registration requirements for years to help prevent this.
