Y2K Quads??
#1
By now i know you all have heard of the Y2K bug. I hope its not going to effect my quad. I'd hate to be riding it on December 31, 1999 at 12:01am and all of a sudden it shut down. What will it do?? Just shut down and turn into a paper weight or is their something i can do to prevent this. I urge everyone to take preventive measures before this happens.

To ensure your quad will be a Y2K compliant quad, either steps (1) & (2) must be taken, or for your convienience, you may complete step (3) to ensure Y2K compliance.
(1) Ensure no new systems or upgrades are to be added to your quad after Nov.1 1999.(no fuel, oil, pipes, filter, etc) Discontinue use until Jan. 5, 2000
(2) Check to ensure all wires, cables and switches have "Y2K" stamped in them. If not, these upgrades must be completed on or before Dec. 31, 1999, 11:59:59 pm.
OR
(3) Send 10% of your quads value to RoostKing, and I will ensure it will operate flawlessly before and after the year 2000.

Guys,
Everyone knows that all ATVs introduced after 1993 are already Y2K compliant. If your machine was designed before 1993, then you need to do some remediation.
The best way to check your machine for Millenium Compliance is to remove the air filter and drain all the gas. You need to then fill the tank with a mixture of nitro-methane and plutonium. Make sure the air pressure in the tires is up to manufacturer's reccomended levels.
Next, take you machine to the equator, point it to the East, start it up, open up the throttle and hang on! As you approach the speed of light you will start moving forward in time. Once you have passed into the next millenium, if your machine is still running, it is Y2K Ready. If it dies as you get to Jan. 1, 2000 then it is not ready. The good thing is that you can start repairs immediately without having to worry for the next 2 months.
To get back to the present, refuel, point the machine West and let her rip. Be sure to pay attention to the date on your watch so that you don't go flying into the past. If you happen to go past today and make it as far back as 1990, please go to Tellico and see if you can find the riding gloves I left in the parking lot. I really liked them.
I hope this helps everyone determine the millenium compliance of their machine.
I found this information at Einstien ATVs. Their web address is www.e=mcc.com You can order your fuel directly from their website as long as your NRC paperwork is up to date.

i drained my gas, i put the nitro-methane and plutonium in and i pumped the tires up to the manufacturers specs and pointed east on the equator. safe to say its y2k safe.
oh and kevin_station i tried to go to Tellico in 1990 but my 97 banshee would only go back to 97. no further. sorry man but i tried. i guess you need a pre 90 quad to get your gloves back.

One very important but often overlooked piece of preventative maintenance concerning the Y2K problem is to be sure the air in you tires is properly rotated. The correct procedure for this is to move the air from tire to tire in a clockwise motion, NOT counterclockwise! Whatever you do, NEVER rotate your air only front tire to front tire or back to back. Doing so can send you back to 1900 or even 1800 or possibly 1700 where you will at best have serious parts problems. Think you have problems finding a reliable service department now? Use your imagination for the worse case scenario.
