Welcome to the forum Gavinater.

If you dont mind it having power all the time you could wire it directly to the battery.

This is an easy hookup. Go to napa or vip, where ever you decide, and look
for an 12v outlet similar to a cigarette lighter in you car. Choose one with a
cover so that you can have it somewhat waterproof when not in use. Drill a
hole somewhere on your machine to slip the component in. From here it is
a simple red wire black wire hookup. Red pos, and black neg. It would be
good if you ran your wire through some sort of snakeing or tubing from the
outlet to the battery. This would keep your wiring from burning up when your
machine get hot. (The cig lighter hook up is good because of there are so
many items out there that can plug in to it. (cellphone, Cig lighter, some
small radios, or mp3 players.) Good luck. Oh the center pin on the lighter
outlet is the positive, and the metal shell on the outside is negative.

Watch what kind of amperage rate is on the outlet you select. Some are rated at only 3 or 5 amps and may not be heavy duty enough for your needs. Also be sure to put a fuse in the positive wire, use a fuse that will not exceed the capacity of the outlet or the wire you use.
