Need recommendations on tire brands
#1
Haven't been into the ATV scene very long, but it's time to purchase tires. I have a Polaris 425 Magnum 4x4 and my wife has a Polaris 325 Trail Boss, both auto trannys. We live in SW Idaho, so we generally will be riding on dirt, gravel, snow and maybe some mud. We usually go to the Oregon coast once or twice a year to ride the dunes. I'm considering the Mudlite style of tire that I think will be a good all around tire for our use. But, When checking over the internet companies for tires, I see several brands available, and I'm scratching my head as to which would be the best tire for the price So,,, I'm looking for input from you members as to what you would recommend.
Thanks,

Anything by Maxxis or ITP is usually very good, arguably the best.....but these are really high-end racing applications and the average trail rider might not need them.
Depending on how you ride, there are a lot of options
I'm a big fan of Dunlop, they don't get a lot of props on the ATV "after" market but they have been making top quality tires for dirt bikes for years, and we all know their street tires are excellent in almost all applications. But their ATV tires are very well priced and they are leading the way in radial technology. For utility ATVs like yours one of the Dunlop AT radials would be an excellent choice as they are factory OEM on many quads today.
Carlisle makes a lot of inexpensive but quality tires to trails and utility. They have a line called "Trail Wolf" that would probably work well for you.
Bridgestone also makes some decent ATV tires that are OEM for some brands but they can be tougher to find.
What I would do is visit RockyMountainATV.com and get a catalog or just brows the website for a while. There are so many good tires out there now for basic application you can't go too wrong if you stick with a major brand.

Thanks for your input ! I did order the catalog from Rocky Mountain and I'm looking strong at the Carlisle 489 AT. Also looking at some brands with the mudlite version.

If you want to go cheap, consider Nebraska tire. They often have blems/grind off's.
In top of the line radials you might look at Mudlite XTR Radials, Maxxis Bighorns, and ITP Terra Cross.
When you come to Oregon, there are many riding areas besides the dunes you might like.
