Default Thumb Throttle Clamp-on Extensions

I rode a quad with a thumb throttle extension (small piece of plastic that clamps on the thumb throttle to allow you to use a little of your palm area vs just your thumb alone)

Everyone in my family loved the feel of it, and now wants one on each of their quads. We need about 1/2 dozen of them, but at $18 each for a $0.02 piece of plastic, OUCH.

I don't feel like making them out of metal as the plastic ones are ergonomic and have clean, rounded edges.

I am not about to spend $120 on a few pieces of plastic. What are my other options?

Slide on a short piece of flexible plastic hose.

I took the plunge several years back and got extenders for all four of our quads. $80 in one lump sum but we were heading for a riding vacation in Wisconsin and knew that we'd be putting in several 100+ mile days. I've taken one off since then (LT80) but the others are still going strong.

I used a short piece of old garden hose. It is flexible enough to not cause injury in case of a mishap, but stiff enough to push the throttle. I'm going to experiment with a short length of copper romex wire & silicone to fill the hose so it can be bent to suit each individual driver.
