atv laws in N.C.

im moving to char. N.C. from farmington N.Y. and would like the run down on the laws there.

1 do i need insurance regestration and so forth?
2 can i ride the side of roads ?
3 do i need a spark arrester?

u don't need a registration and insurance to ride. my b/f dad's a cop and he say that insurance and registration is only good if it gets stolen. but then all u really need is the serial number. it's legal to ride 30+ feet from the center of the road and the cops can't say nothing. i ride on the roads when it's snowed and all the cops have said is to turn on my headlights. u don't nee a spark arrester unless it is required in certain national forest.
