Hey Jason
It really depends what you want to do with it.
Do you want to do lots of trail riding? Lots of track riding? Going wherever you feel like?
The Can-Am DS450 is a great trail/track quad, it's chain driven, and considered a "sport" ATV. The Yamaha Raptor 700 is also another great choice in this class.
If you want to do some trail, and some going off road whever you feel like, I would pick a hybrid sport/utility quad. They are shaped like sport quads, but are shaft driven with switch-on 4WD. The Can-Am Renegade 500 or 800 is a great choice, as is the Yamaha Wolverine 450.
I would recommend the Renegade 500 personally. I'm 14, turning 15 in 2 months, and I would pick the Renegade 500 out of the group. Enough power for someone our age, and its also fun to drive in general. The 500 Renegade is (IMO) better than the Wolverine 450 because it has a V-Twin engine, which is two cylinders vs one.
I hope that I get a Renegade 500 for my b-day or for Xmas this year, but we'll see.
Good Luck, and welcome to the forums!

If you're just gonna be hitting some light, pre-made trails and going down the sides of roads I would definitely go with a real "sport" ATV.
The Can-Am Renegades weigh about 600 lbs, but there's enough power that when you're flooring it you can do wheelies.
So yeah, if you want a sporty, chain driven, lightweight ATV then you're gonna have to pick a sport ATV. But you have to learn to ride drive a manual. I thought I knew how to, and tried my neighbors Suzuki 85 dirtbike this weekend, and fell off and have this horrible cut/road rash, i think i lost like 4 layers of skin LOL.
Anyways, the Can-Am DS450X and Yamaha Raptor 700R are both good lightweight sport ATV's. If you go to a Can-Am Dealer then they have Dyno charts that prove that the DS450 makes the most power in it's class (450 sport ATVs), and alot more than the TRX 450. The Can-Am is also the lightest in it's class.
I would recommend that you get the Can-Am, as it also comes with a full 3 year warranty (best in the business).
If you buy it, just make sure the guy at the dealer explains to you fully how to work it. On the Suzuki I didn't know you had to pull the clutch to make the engine slow down, and that's why I crased. Once you get used to it you'll probably have a lot of fun with the DS450x.

Hi Jason, you said that you have never used a clutch before and your 15, If I were you the bigest I would go would be a 400ex, or yfz400. Anything bigger than that would be to dangerous for you. I dont know your laws where your at but here in Wisconsin you have to be a certian age to ride certian size quads. for saftey reasons, We have had so many kids die from them riding quads that are to big for them.
